Hi Guys,
Im looking at upgrading my stereo system soon. Ive got a sweet JVC HU, but now looking at splits for the front, 10" sub in sealed box and amps. Rears can stay stock for now as only rear fill.
Was wondering what peoples thoughts where on the Response 2x84W and Response 2x150W amps. Would use the 2x84W for the front splits (mounted under one of the front seats) and the 2x150W for the sub (450Wx1 @ 4ohms bridged).
Reason is I can get them both for under 1/2 RRP through work and that would leave me more money for spilts/sub.
Looking for SQL, not SPL.
Cheers

Inspiration Technology. An Electronics R&D House.
We buy a lot of electronics stuff (obvioulsy!!). So we have an account with Electus (Jaycars suppliers) so get everything Jaycar has at wholesale prices. :D
I can get the 2x150W for $127.96 (RRP $289)
and the 2x84W for $89.56 (RRP $199)
:D :D
Think Im gonna order some if someone doesnt convince me not to!!
Would there be any point in running the front splits off of the 2x150W? So I would have 2 of them, one for the sub and another for the front splits... Or is 84W plenty for splits?
Cheers

Yeah sorry I just checked that and the prices are excluding GST. The RRP does include GST.
No freight as they are 2 minutes walk from me! :o)
Awesome!!
Was it true they stopped making the 4x100 respose? dumbasses, they were cool!
Anyways, if you were into hardcore SQL, cloth ear "I can hear up to 400Mhz" sorta stuff *cough*s_tim_ulate_*cough* then you wouldn't be using a jaycar amp.
IMO, I reckon jaycar amps are good enuf hehe. WHat splits and sub are u wanting to get? Jaycar stuff?

there's a new series 4x100 eekie! Will be running my splits with it! And I'm a bit of an sq person, and I think the jaycar amps are good for the money. Rather them than anything else for that price. SQ is too expensive in cars. :(
I'd get the 150x2 for subs, and the 4x100 for splits! Oh wait... that's what I AM doing! lol
If you run fronts off the 150x2 you will need to quiten your doors down a lot, otherwise you just be wasting your time. Headroom headroom headroom! YAY! :fruitcake

Well they are bringing out all their new amps, which include a 800WRMS monoblock (or something like that anyway) and a new 4x100WRMS amp!!
I want to get some focal splits. Went and had a listen to them last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were only running off a 50W amp, but were insane!! $499, but Im gonna see what Fhrx can do for me. So I wont need a 4x100W for the splits. The 84W should be fine.
Sub I want the 11" Focal 27V2. Its for a nice small sealed enclosure. This was around $400 I think.
Im going to have to get all this slowly, as dont have a money tree, but the amps might come first if they are that crazy price!
Or I wait and see what discount I can get on the new amps! :D
Cheers

I just rang up and asked about their new range of kevlar speakers... They sound pretty awesome!!
The guy is a mate of mine, and he compared the old kevlar coaxials to the 5" Focals (which are nearly the same as the 6.5" ones I listened to but start at 70Hz, not 60Hz, but have better midbass than the 6.5") and he reakons they sounded heaps better. So Im gonna hold off getting speakers until I can listen to the new splits. They sound very promising and are an awesome price!
