A lot of people seem to be talking up Focal Utopias at the moment. Obviously their top of the line speakers are going to rock but we can't all afford them. Has anyone ever played with Focal's lower spec gear, and would they recommend it over, say, an equivalently priced item from someone else?

Don't touch focals stuff, ive had heaps of experiance with them. They are super finely balanced and crisp BUT they cost the earth. Focal 4" vs all brands u can think of =

Focal = 10/10 $320
JAYCAR (yes!!) = 9/10 $125

Go for Jaycar HQ (High Quality) midrange.
They have Swivel mounted Titanium Super Tweeters, and come with crossovers.. Anything from 4", 5", 6" to 6.5" range. ;)
