hi all

i got a 3.5 auto and when it changes gears it revs like its kinda in nuetral and then jolts you back in ur seat

obviously its the trans but what part exactly is causing to do this/is there anyway i can fix it...

if the tranny is on its way out then i got a manual box sittin here which would like to be in my car if necessary

I think thats with all auto's.

My mums skyline does the same thing. Its sort of in gear but it isnt but when driving normally, its fine.

COuld be talking about something different though.

You could try resetting the ECU.. and change your tranny oil...

I'd be thinking it was either the torque converter or the clutches in the auto....

Would do an ATF change quick smart, then monitor if it gets better or worse over the next two weeks.

Check out the ATF additives available from Repco/Supercheap etc.
my old Sigma's Borg warner was dying, added the stabiliser (cant remember brand) and I got another 20,000 clicks out of it, before I rebuilt it for the second time in 2 years.

Once the thing is okay, then save for a rebuild.

Changing the oil just doesnt do it for the magna autos u need to get flushed every 40,000 and recirclatied like a blood transfusion costing $110 @ dj motors as soon as that done mine works fine. The trannie learns the way u drive it and the computer makes the gear change, after my girlfriend drive it the gears change really beaut so no more flooring the pedal and a over haul costing about $$2000 to 4500 Depend on u looked after it. Changeing it to manual easy make sure u get a manual wiring harness + ecu+ peds+ someone who know wat the hell to do, it real big money..$$ Cheers

Anything wrong with it, But $100 Plus you need wiring harness (not cheap) plus ECU also not cheap, I work in a wrecking yard and a manual wiring harness went for 1300 and 250 for ecu plus peds 150 time for a pro, depends on who does it and how long it takes looking around 800 plus, so good luck on change over if in tassie me and a mate could help Seth 3rd year mec and me a auto elec we could help if not already done, CHEERS :P
