Have to admit JVC decks must be making some of the big players more than a little nervous. I've tested a few now and they are very, very good decks. :)

I'll agree with that. Still got my first headunit. JVC kdsx985. Not as blingy as above but still has all the good features. (no extensive eq'ing or TA :( but working on that)
front/rear 4v pre out, sub out, line in (now 2 line ins), remote, detachable face, mp3, etc etc.

Quality wise, with CD's it is great. MP3's can cause some noise at low volumes but i use the ipod for all them now. No Alpine/Eclipse/Nak but good value for money.

Peace

Exactly. Plus they have that sexy touch screen one that isnt as ugly as the clarion or 4 figures like the Alpine. If only the Warren G speakers / amps series where any good maybe they would step up the ladder a little.

s_tim_ulate clear some private msgs cause you full to the brim and i have a sizzling one I want to send :bowrofl: lol

Looking at a JVC KD-LH300 (305) (http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027149&pathId=54&page=3) myself. Went to Northfield, they tried to sell me the Alpine 9827.. more money and ugly as sin. Can't hear the difference in quality myself.

Whats wrong with the mp3 quality of JVCs?

i dnt find any problems with the mp3 quality on mine, maybe it was a bad cd or even a bad mp3???

I have exactly the same unit. Nothing wrong with the MP3 quality. I love it. Very easy to use and full of features at a reasonable price. Can fully reccommend it.

Awesome, the Northfield guys screwed up their nose at the mention of JVC (typical, it's not alpine) and the JB Hifi guys tried to discredit it and flog me something more expensive ;)

I like it though. Great features, seems quality. Have you replaced any of the animations on it?

Fine be like that :snooty:

MP3 quality will never be as good as CD quality but you cant put 160 songs on a cd any other way and having it sound close, just make sure they are over 128bps, all mine are 192bps just to make sure :)

Not sure.. JB's selling it for close to $500 'on special' .. You can get it much less if you shop around.

Planning on teaming it up with a pair of Hertz HSK-165's...

What are you guys using it with? Amped or not?

Mr ©harisma
21-04-2005, 03:46 PM
Very nice splits, Amp them and add sound deadening to get the most out of your components. You only need around 50WRMS from a quality amp. :D

Yeah, I've listened to some alpines, focals and a few misc's.. love these hertz most of all :)

I'm looking at a Blaupunkt VR-504 (http://fe0wap79.bosch.de/intershoproot/eCS/Store/serviceDocuments/7607792023_EA_GB.pdf) 50w rms x 4 .. for the moment.. I'll throw a sub in later.

Yeh all my mp3's are good quality, Will play fine through the ipod, but at very low levels, like setting 1 or 2, there is slight scratching noises through the JVD headunit. I'm just anal with that stuff.

In reality, when the music is audible u cant hear any additional noise.

No I havent replaced any of the animations yet. Just havent got around to it. Should give it a go... Im off to perth for for the weekend, but will give it a go after that.

It cost me $399 on special from $599 from JB HiFi.
I had a VDO Dayton before this in my skyline
VDO CD 2703 (http://www.vdodayton.com/index2.aspx?nid=6&color=red&status=n4)
I like the JVC much better.

Really.. I was giving a 2nd hand VDO CD 2803 a long look before this. I could of had it for under $200.. I turned it down eventually because it didn't seem to have a seperate sub out.

What didn't you like about the VDO?

I got the JVC KD G615 and it is simply awesome..

JVC have really improved over the last 2 years how ever those WarrenG subs are just no match for the Strobowoofers ( I got the 10 inch) as they sound and look so good for the money...(I bought it for the ICE blue LED far a Bandpass enclosure and it sounded as good as it looked)

I had the JVC KD LH 3105 before this one and it absolutely stomped over the VDO/Dayton 3300 in Sound Quality but not features....
I briefly had the 3300 in my Magna but quickly replaced it due to the fact I had lost the RCA connections and the rotary Volume knob had become very erratic...

Bigg_ Will:
Nice Deck it Should keep you happy for a long time to come....

Id say this unit was pretty pricey. I paid $500 for my KD-LHX505.
7 band iEQ
50W x4 19Wrms
2x5v line out
subwoofer preout
touch screen
etc

but not colour pict graphics.

What didn't you like about the VDO?

It had buttons for volume, and not a dial.
The radio station preset buttons were hard to see at night cause the writting on them is so small and you have to push preset button 1/2 once to get preset 1 and then again to get preset 2, same for 3/4, 5/6. 7/8.
It felt very plasticy. This was probably my biggest dislike. I didnt like the way the front facia detached... was very liable to wear out quickly or snap the little knobs of plastic off. JVCs method is much better.
There was not foam protector in the Facia case to protect the screen.
No Sub control.
It had cool graphics but thats about it.
Its not like I hated it, I did like it otherwise I wouldn'tve bought it, but it was the best featured I could afford at the time. I was going to take out of the skyline when I sold it, but saw the JVC deck and got that instead as it was so much better (IMO anyway).

my head unit was worth $999 but i only payed $749 for it, thanks to Autobarn at Penrith, look out for the new display BMW, sound quality in that thing is insane, look out for it at Auto Salon, and Dean their installer is a god damn genious, there's nothing he cant do, if u want a killer install go see him.....nothing wrong with a free plug lol

Can it be installing 'flush' with the dash surroundings?

Looks a little amateurish when it pokes out 10mm like that;
I hate using those HU bezel surrounds they always give you in the box.
The only place they look good on is a totally flat dash panel eg MGA/MGB, ancient cars.

I like to poke mine back so the front face is flush with the dash.
The JVCs look pretty good these days, not as tacky as Alpine and Xplods.

Mine has the same angle option thing.

I tried mounting mine flush and couldnt get it as no screw holes in the right place in the HU to mount to the magna HU frame. I used the original frame so its all bolted in so harder to pinch.

It sticks out just like the photo in the post above.
