View Full Version : Dash woodgrain
ok well ive sorta dismantled my dash to install my woodgrain, but i hav found a problem... ive found that once i pull everything off, i cant reverse the actions to put evrything back in again... theres these screws which needs to be in place before i even put the vents in, now the centre vent is fine, but the far left vent is the problem as it wont be able to go back in as the opening on the woodgrain is smaller than the vent hole (this is coz the woodgrain is curved at the end of it). now reading the service and repair manual it says that i shouldve removed the whole dash off.. i dont really want to do this so has anyone else done wat i am trying to do? if so how did they do it??

You need to remove the glove box first, then remove the backing piece behind the glove box. It's about 4 screws and 2 bolts to get it off. A 5min job. It then pulls away.
Reach behind and up, and you will see 2 winged nuts which you can unscrew by hand. You need a torch to see them, and you may need to push the ducting away a fraction. The strip along the dash then pulls forwards. Here is a picture of the nuts you're looking for.
Shouldn't take more than 15 mins if you got the cluster out. Hope this helps.
thanks TJ Sports, yeah ive goten the right hand side screw out, but not the left. kool i was thinking that i could take the glove box out and reach it from there, now that confirms it. hopefully be finished by next saturday, pics will be then
well guys i hav finally finished installing the woodgrain, it looks great! but i gota clean the interior of my car...
that screw i was talking about was still a b!tch to get to but i evenutally got to it, harder part was to screw it back in as there was restricted space.
well ive learnt my lesson on how to fix the woodgrain finish on the dash, ppl dnt do wat i do and try and yank it off the dash.. THERES SCREWS AND BOLTS ON THE DAMN THING!! :bowrofl:
in the end, i reckon its a good look. i dunno wat im gonna do with my original black finish one, i might either paint it or sell it so i'll keep ya'll posted about that. pics soon
