I just got an exaust on my shark.
2" straight through with 2 lukey mufflers on the end.. and its pritty loud..
im just a little worried its too loud..
has any one been in the same situation?

maybe becouse its been so quiet for so long that it feels strainge that its so loud..

Well i Just got a A letter from EPA(emmisons protections agency i think) Victoria, saying my exhaust is too loud and has to be tested, if not i get fined... but its worth it

Check with your EPA in your state dood.

Its something like 92db and they check the car at around 3000rpms with a 'tester thingo' from around x amount of metres behind the car and to the side.

newly fitted exhaust may sound loud for the first say 1-2weeks after that they quiten down a tad bit once the mufflers/cannon gets its fair shair of soot.

i find exhaust get noisier with driving - once everything carbons up it sound louder

DB is 90 in vic at half the vehicles red line

i have had 3 on magna and one on the S15 (which is heaps louder)

So now i Have Defect Boxes For Both Cars.......

So i can put both back to standard if required then refit parts as soon as i get canaried or epa'd..... hahahahaha :badgrin: :badgrin: :badgrin:

apparently its only the law that thinks an exhaust can be too loud...

i was like that, its probly in your head because its way louder than stock. just listen to wrx's that go past and theyre louder but legal. (maybe not the fully bombed out ones but yeh)

Im looking at getting a 2.5" Mandrel bent cat-back system, w/ Magnaflow straight through intermediate muffler and a cannon with a 6" barrel...

You guys think it will sound nice?? Too loud??

your right about the exhaust getting louder.
Cause if u think about it, the packing in the mufflers
get filled with soot, therefore closing in, after a very long time,
the exhaust it basically straight through, because the packing is
either cooked or filled......

depending on the muffler if its not straight through it will ristrict the flow of air..
it may habe a bend in the muffler..

Had a car of mine tested before at the NSW EPA in Regents Park. They connect something to one of your high tension leads then place a microphone 30cm from the exhaust outlet tip at 45° anglethen they ask you to rev your vehicle to 4950rpm and hold it there for 5 seconds... Mine read 88db on load but on back off it read 92 and so they will give u a chance to make good the defect. If u fail a second time you get a fortnight to cancel rego otherwise EPA Cancels it for you and the owner forreits the refund.

They inspect exhaust to see what mods done to it and if u have no cat your screwed big fine....and car must be towed from their as it is deemed failed - too dangerous to be driven.
