Hi all,
Was out for a drive today (only picked up my KJII on Friday) and noticed a weird hissing/high pitched crunching/vibration noise  from the front of the car when accelerating from low revs, ie. when the engine is slightly labouring.
Any ideas what it might be?
Regards,
Sean.

jeez thats pretty broad "hissing/high pitched crunching/vibration noise"
Park the car
Put into N
Handbrake up
Pop the hood
Get somone to rev it a little to see if it will replicate the sound and see where it is coming from in the engine bay
is it a loud noise? or barely noticable? throw us a bone!

Yeah. I'll investigate a bit further and post again. Just that it scared the crap outa me when I heard it.
I suspect it's something vibrating as it does it when the engine is at low revs and starting to labour. It's just that it's the weirdest rattle I've ever heard. :eh: Hence my inability to properly describe it.

Can't. Only does it when the car's moving.

even when dirving could ueven tell us where form the engine bay its coming from? i had a bad vibrating noise when my alternator pulley came loose, pully bent so it was vibrating on the alternator when driving, as bad under load

Could be something rattling against the body or exhaust pipe in the engine compartment.
Sympton of bad finish & fitment, more normally associated with vehicles made in Russia, however Magna's got a notoriously bad rep for things coming loose.

Could be the main engine pipe from the exhuast where it join just near the cat. There's a small metal flap at the join that comes loose and vibrates at around the 1500 RPM mark when accelerating. It's a common problem with them.

Sounds similar to what i can hear in mine at the moment (TH sports TipAuto) Usually the engine is warm when it starts. Slowly accelerating (under load) it gets to about 1800 - 2000rpm then what seems like something metallic flapping ( i.e. holding a sheet of tin in a desk fan and letting the blades hit it)

Thanks magnus.
Any point trying to fix it then? Will it just come back after a while?
