well how old is the car and how many Klms - could be that you do need all this done. Shocks in particular don't last forever you know...

u sure u didnt go to pedders :bowrofl: because they said i needed a whole list of things adding up to 2g...i mean, sure some things needed doing, but it wasnt all necessary. The main thing i took into consideration was teh CV's...which i did myself instead of them doing it, bastards.

Yeah some other quotes could be in order methinks, though you're not going to halve the cost if all that does need doing, but you might get it to $1500ish.

Well shocks you can get new ones for around $500 - $600 depending on brand. I have KYB's and they are in that price range. Doesn't include install though. Anyone else know how much the other things are??

This way you can see what the parts roughly cost, and then you know how much labour they charge. If it is too much, go somewhere else. Or organise buying this stuff where its cheaper and go somewhere to get it all done.

CV joints or CV boots?

I would say boots, thus $25 if you get expensive ones.

Yeh its the actual joint. Boots were replaced shortly before I got the car.

It was infact Pedders that gave that quote. :doubt:

Thanks for the replies fellas

Bleh Pedders.... very ordinary stuff at high prices. Try Midas for a comparo quote, or even a Mitsu dealer.

ahh, well they said all the bushes needed replacing on mine pretty much, if you are after a really good ride (but beign 3rd gen its not as old as mine newho) then you could get them replaced if your keen... They said my steering rack needed replacing too, because of a small boot leak, which lost barely any power steer fluid. They showed me the shock test reports and two came up good, bu tthen again I don't know how legit taht was are after givin me a massive list... But defintly take it somewhere else just to get a looksy at least as others have said, then they put stickers on my car

The only thing that came up good was my springs...go the king springs :bowrofl:

Gday fellas

Asked a mitsu mechanic today, and he reckons TEs don't have radius bushes? Anyone with a good amount of knowledge able to tell me if they do or don't? Someones bull****ting me, either Pedders or Mitsu. :doubt:

What they are calling radius bushes, the mitsu mechanics may call something else. This sort of thing happened to me and confused the living bejeezus outta me. I had one of those 'free suspension checks' and they said this needed doing, went to my dealer (under extended used car warranty)and they said "?"

Ended up getting the suspension place to show me, then showed the dealership mechanics an they called it something else entirely.....

Anyway, get other quotes. For 2G you could have a set of street-spec coilovers from Anthony at Philcom Rally with alot of change left over.

However, all that said, I have no idea what a steering gear is (steering box?) or how much it costs, and CV's can be bloody expensive. Good shocks (like KYB's) as stated should cost $600-700 plus maybe $100-150 for fitting. If you want to lower it, do it at the same time... save ithe cost of doing the springs later.
Bump stops should add no more than $50 including installation....

I would expect even with a few bushes replaced, it should be around $1500, depending on how much the CV's are. Can someone tell us what they paid for new CV's (no labour, just parts)
