Can someone tell me what the go is with all the problems ppl seem to have with front and rear screens in this model. I have an '03 KJ II GTVi, what should i be looking/listening out for? I have noticed a "rattle" over bumps, potholes, when turning up driveway (creaks) etc. comming from the rear which seems to dissapear if the car interior is warm and everything is obviously expanded. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yep sounds like a de-bonded windscreen at least - BTW I doubt its just Magnas - these tricksy new Urethane bonded screens seem to be a bit hit and miss as to success. Amongst my acquaintences Commodores suffer from the syndrome and I know of one BMW 'New shape' 5 series that was riddled with the issue.
Obrien's will do your third gen screen for $265 including GST - it takes about 30 minutes to do, can be at your site, and if you leave the car unmoved after the job for at least several hours, the symptoms disappear.
This wait time is I think the problem - where the originals fail - as I can't imagine the cars on the production line being left unmoved for several hours after the screens are fitted.

Wouldn't a problem like this be covered under warranty? If it were done under warranty would the dealer do it themselves? i am in country(ish) NSW.....my local dealers are a bunch of nuffs.

Well I agree - the problem is getting the nuffheads to understand it. BTW - the Beemer I mentioned - one window exploded so that was pretty much obviously covered but the rattling back window is more contentious - the dealer seems to be taking the point that if its not leaking the seal must be fine, but clearly there's more to it than that.
BTW especially with a country dealer I doubt they'd do it themselves - they'd be getting the local mobile guy to come around.
I have had both replaced under warranty for the same reason but had to take it in twice first i thought the noise was coming from the vent (at the front) but when the back window started makin noises it was obviuos what was causing it ....... :D

i took mine in after 6 months ( from new and under warrnaty ) . it seems to be a common problem cos they were all to happy to change the whole thing.
