I couldnt find this via search...so

i reset the trip comp after the last fillup, and noticed the dist to empty was flashing. Thort ok, itll come good after a coupla kays.

No go, its still flashing after half the tank. Any reason for this someone know of? do i need to reset the ecu? i think it happened to me b4, and the battery happened to go flat the next day, so i never got to test it.

I wouldnt be too worried, mine does it all the time.. After I reset the trip computer and fill up it either shows nothing as distance to empty, or some stupid figure like 300km (when I usually get 600km out of a tank).. Its wierd though cos it used to always be very accurate.. not sure why its changed. I'm curious to know whether theres some sensor thats stuffed..

See if it fixes itself up when you fill up next?

I get this as well. Instead of resetting the trip compueter, I reset the manual trip on the instrument panel instead to avoid this happening. :P

And I think resetting the ECU will cause it to happen as well.

it's a faul twith the trip computer and the service manual tells you how and what to check to fix it.
Email me and i can send that part of the manual to you.

Hi. I recently had a similar problem, but when I checked the handbook it says that the display flashes like that when the 'range to empty' is less than 50kms. It also says that the trip computer will only recognise when you refuel IF (1) you put more than 18 litres in and (2) the ignition is switched to OFF when you refuel.

In other words, if you are putting less than 18 litres in, or refuel with the ignition 'on' it will not register and will think the tank is empty, hence you'll get the flashing display. Maybe this is your problem?

Assuming I have the same problem.. It still flashes, as I always put more than 18L in.. (usually about 60L!) and keys are not even left in the car when i fill up..

Then theres something wrong with your trip computer coz it doesn't do that on mine. only flashes when theres less than 50 or so Ks left to empty as Eddo said.
