Greetings All.

I was reading in one of my performance magazines about Hybrids new GT tube and fin style intercooler, apparently with alot more flow then their bar and plate design of similar size...not to mention 30% lighter...Also reduces turbo lag...

Can anyone tell me the difference between a tube & fin, and a bar & plate FMIC??

Or is this some marketing technique...?

Cheers,

General rule of thumb for intercooler cores is....bar and plate type are generally best suited to track type work due to their ability to hold a temperature more consistantly around a racetrack for how ever long...tube and fin tend to flow better and cool faster and are generally used by more people in drag racing.

This is a very general rule and all brands of cores differ in quality so you will probably need to make youre assesment on a case by case basis.

115,90,75mm bar & plate on left. Heavy

73,57,30mm tube & fin on right. Tough

hope this helps...
