Depends on the mods you may have, i think as long as it is not to far from standard their ok with it.I have 16" wheels and lowered 30mm etc., and they were happy with that.

i am with the rac, ive had a few mods but never told them and i had to make a claim 3 weeks ago. i tried to make it back as stock as i could but when they assessed it i still had my 17" mags, extractors and exhaust, and dumped. had no problems they went ahead with the repairs hahaha. but yeh you should really tell them wot mods you get.
if your gonna get heaps of mods go with shannons insurance company but im not sure of the costs

Just car I have found to be all right (they let you mod), young and cool might be cheaper but there are lots of restrictions. GIO is useless, NRMA were not mod friendly and are usually expensive. AAMI wont let you do anything.

anyways thats beside the point.NRMA will cover rims that are no wider than 7". You can lower your car, just no more than 30mm from the base model, the base model being the exec or ES. You should tell them about your CAI, just dont be suprised if they cancel your insurance and send you a cheque. You should also tell them about any traffic infringements when you start or renew your insurance. NRMA will use any excuse to wipe your insurance and keep their money, especially after a theft or accident.

The curious thing about Just Car is that they are underwritten by AAMI. AAMI are so anti everything. Also AAMI will never get $1 from me, be it through Just Car or directly.
NRMA, GIO, AAMI, Justcars, Shannons, underwriters
Chose the policies you want and get a quote from each..
Go with the cheapest...

AAMI doesnt like mods really.
Shannons said they only insure collectibles (recent made changes)
Just Cars were alot better, they dont have issues with the mods being on the car but might not insure your mags or stereo or something.

i just did a quote with Justcar.
i did it last week and they quoted me $1400
did it just then before and they quoted me $1900 !
wtf a $500 increase in a week :(
i had to do the quote again as i lost the quote number they gave me.

Ive been with NRMA and never had a problem (had 2 claims with them 1 for cement from a construction company and they made the company pay for a full respray - it went to court and NRMA won. The other was for a truck trailer door swinging open as i drive by and it smashed into the side of my car (lantra) ), then moved to GIO as they were cheaper (claimed 2 stereo thefts both in the lantra.. sucked).. still no problem and finally i went with AAMI until i moved to Melbourne where i changed back over to RACV.
Shannons and Justcars are good as they will insure anything.

my full yearly premium is $1050...thats very good for a fist time young male driver i think

That is a good price.
Even if you're 30+ on Rating 1+, it won't be any less than $700 (for Vic CBD).

NRMA have been very good, never needed to make a claim but i've lost my license twice, i'm 23 this yr. they started me on a rating 3,now i'm a rating 2 and paying $370/yr full comp...
rules of nrma-
cannot lower more than 30mm
cannot fit rims wider than 7in
cannot fit 235 tyres to a 7in wide rim(its illegal anyway)
i've told them about my CAI,filter,extractors,full 2.5in system,30mm lowering,17x7 wheels,cd....... and their sweet.
i trust them to payout if needed
