mate - read "RICE" you can get electronic BOV's but that is all tehy are - a speaker and a wire so on gear change it makes the sound for you - it has no performance enhancement at all/

If we cannot get respect from our own members you can see why we will not get respect from others with questions like that .
why does liking the sound of a blow off valve make me a wanker? first of all its not like its slow, ive kept up with ss commodores, r33 skylines, 200sx's beaten exas, charade turbo(one big turbo), mx6 turbo, maxima turbo etc and a thousand commodores and fords none of them standard either
secondly why would i want to spend between $5000 and $15000 for a turbo conversion if i can add a bov to a non turbo car that is reliable and good on fuel
turbos arent the most reliable thing on this planet especially when u spend so much on it
u lot complain about ford, commodore and turbo cars making fun of us magna owners, well maybe u should have a look at urself, not all ppl have the same tastes as u
and i didnt ask about an electronic blow off valve, i said a blow off valve, i wouldnt want a speaker stuck in the engine bay either

But why do you want a blow off valve?

I really think there has been a total over-reaction by all parties on this one. no one was calling anyone a "wanker". And yes, i can understand why you would want a BOV, they make an awesome noise, but it can't be done as it is activated by the backpressure from the turbo, so it really can't be used on anything else. The main Purpose of BOV's is to realease the back pressure from the turbo to prevent turbo-backspin and turbo lag. so yeh, sorry mat but thats it as far as i know

if your claim of beating all those turbo cars is true, why dont you just turn around to them and say, 'guess whos better, guess whos still naturally asprated'
you dont need a BOV or a turbo to show everyone your supremmacy.

the point of a BOV is to release pressures while changing gears so as not to get flutter back over the turbo and this way the turbo stays spooled and is a quicker smoother gear change.
there is no place to usefully put a BOV on an N/A car as our cars do not suffer from this and instead it would probably be bad for our cars as we require the back force to give us our power.
the turboes have too much back froce and run the risks of the turbine wheel being forced in teh opposite direction - so like i said earlier - sorry - but BOV's are for Turbo cars only.
But i do admit I lurve to sound of large single turboes hitting their BOV's on change!!

thankyou, thats all i wanted to know, i spose all i can do to get a bov is sell the magna or turbo it
the guys in taree have got a g-tech thing so we go out and give it a go sometimes, all the cars just race each other, and dont worry i make fun of em when i flog them, thing is no one wants to race me nemore... :(

Then they should get Magnas too. As the guys said, you don't need one, you can't use one and it wouldn't be worthwhile. If you want that noise, get an electronic blow off valve. Don't ditch a car just because it doesn't make that noise. Performance is what counts. That's what street cred is based on. Looking nice, rice or sounding phat, (hate that word!), is all good and well, but if a car is made to look like something that it isn't, then street cred is out the window. You'll lose money selling up for another car. Might was well buy yourself an LSD and turbo / supercharger setup.
If your mates can't hack being beat by you, then that's their problem. Forget about it, you have the better car without the extra technology and it's an Aussie car too!

jeeeeZ it just sounded funny because I imagined seeing one of those electronic bov in some car shop with some shoddy foriegn wrapping called like "super charming blow away stick" and buzzwords like "performance!" and "fasto!"
no need to take offence it was just extremely funny.
sorry widowmaker, didnt know u were so racist toward import cars! lol ill remember that 4 next time
cheers

Dont worry about saying sorry it takes more then some guy with an NA car wanting rice accesories to make put me down.
And no im not racist towards imported car's since i own one and the only reason i still have a magna is because im saving for another one. So i dont really see where you have your grounding on that.
But no hard feeling's , good luck if you can beat a 200sx that is racing as well.

BOV's dont release on gear changes...they let go on the release of the accelerator
but apart from that manual is right, you wont be able to put a bov on a na car (not easily)

yes the corolla sportivo isn't to be easily tossed aside. it uses the same 1.8 L vvti found in the celica producing 140kW. that's pretty close to a magna eh? hehee... i'd love one of those just for short trips and FUN

It's like $500 for one, and why would you want someone to "think" your car is turbo'd when it's not?
Also BOV's are illegal in Vic, and you can get EPA'd for them. So you'll have to do and EPA test and show them that you have an electronic one ahahaha

- Twin shots of NOS, R34 flies 10 feet into the air ABOVE the other car, lands it, and wow- the engine is still in the bonnet, all 4 wheels are still on, and my head hasn't punched through the roof.....must be a great car! :?
cant wait for 3 fast, 3 furious   , or The Fastestest and the Furioustestest ;)
