Just wondering - getting my car serviced tomorrow - do you guys prefer the "genuine Mitsubishi oil" or the Castrol Magnatec?

Mitsu oil is very basic run-of-the mill 20/50 oil.I use Valvoline Synth-Blend 5/30.Easy cold starts and very quiet engine.

Magnatec is useless - just a marketing thing.

Hmm, if you HAD to pick one ... Magnatec.
There are better oils than either for a few more pennies, though.

Mitsu's Diamond Spectrum oils are supposed to be BP Viscos which are good. My dealer uses that and castrol stuff which seems to be fine. I personally byo with Mobil1 supersyn.

Is that from Phillcom? Is it the pure synth or semi synth? I am still looking into what will be the best when it comes up to servicing the car

Autobarn now stocks the Motul range, so its much easier to buy. Previously had to
get it from performance shops or self-import, depends which is cheaper.

Am running 4100 semi-synth right now as my 3.5 has only been fed factory lube all along.
Am told its not a good idea to go full synth straight away, needs to be weaned off first.
I might go full synth (8100) later or might just stick to semi-synth & 5thou changes.

Stuff is 10w/40 but unlike others, first time I checked its so thin it drips off the stick.
Young engine so tappets aren't making any noise anyway... but still sounds a bit
quieter than before. Revs a lot easier too.

yep. Bought 5L of Reliance/HomeBrand for like $6, used 2L to top up sump of
a borrowed Torana Sunbird (panelshop's courtesy car) and the rest
to kill weeds in the garden.

Ain't getting that stuff anywhere near MY pistons!!
