i change every 5000km... or sometimes before... i'm very touchy about my oils.... sometimes i'll change it before the 5000km... if i'm going on long distance trips say syd to bris, then i'll change it regardless of 5000km or not and maybe change it when i come back... i know.... :doubt:

definately. Cleaner oil makes a hell of lot of difference
5000km or 7500km is a good time to change. 10000km is leaving it a bit too long i reckon.
hmmmm......u ppl either have too much money or are just plain hardcore
I dunno, I follow the maintainence book:P

I change the oil in mine every 5,000 (or less if it looks like water when I check it) and do oil and filter at 10,000 Km.

I was talking to a guy who swore by a 3000km oil change interval in his landcruiser diesel trayback. (toyota recommend 5000km) His was a 1990 model with an aftermarket turbo on it. It had been serviced every 3000km from new and "slick 50" used every 80'000km. This truck had done 580'000km on the original engine. cruiser diesels usually only last 350'000-400-000km.

The case is most definately the more often the better.
Trust me you can tell the difference between 2 magnas....the man who changes every 15k and the man who changes every 7500k......big difference in varnish around the top end...you can tell just by lifting the oil cap.
I have a gsr lancer and change oil about every 3000-5000km its like new inside the engine plus you will also notice youre throttle body doesnt gum up with oil vapor and crap. The engine wont be as likely to leak oil due to seal condition and less carbon deposits to wear seal. Aside from all the afore mentioned issues there is no real reason to change youre oil at more regular intervals lol

well whoever told you that is wrong. it defently makes a difference to engine life, and a big one
simple fact is if your engine oil is dark brown, its doing stuff all protection to your engine. Have you ever looked at 10000k old engine oil? its always dark brown

I'm sorry but this guy really is wrong. Cleaner oil will protect your moter a lot better. I change my filter every time I change my oil too(500k's). I know this may be a bit extreme for some people, but I figure that if you're putting clean oil through a dirty filter then it can't be right. That's just my opinion though.

For the record i change mine every 5000ks (or when im bored, sometimes less than 3000) but always change your oil filter
Keeps your engine nice and clean, and just gives me that little bit more engine insurance against failure, and yes i do thash my car daily and my mum changes her oil every 15k's :gtfo:
Happy servicing
