Hi all, I've just got my first Magna (1988 TN)
Got no power to the fuel pump
Can anyone tell me where the fuel pump gets its power (fuses relay, etc)

Thanks

im not sure but check the engine fuse in the fuse block in the cabin. check them all aswell just to be safe and it only takes 5 minutes.

Could u follow the wire back from the tank, assuming it runs down the side of the car or underneith

Should have a relay and a fuse.... :D

Thanks
I'll have a look today and see if I can trace wiring

if u cant and its still wont work, just grab the mechanical pump of a early tm, just onbolt the redistributer from the head passengier side of the block, intake side, and bolt on the mechanical pump there, put the lines on the same places, and all done

From memory i think there is a relay next to the ecu that turns the fuel pump on when iginition is set to on, might wanna check that

Behind the passenger side kickpanel. It's a single black with white trace wire. Probably came undone. On the FI cars, there's a connector under the bonnet to test.

Wouldn't go a mechanical fuel pump, as the electrics are superior.

Thanks Gav
Won't go the mechanical pump just yet.
Found the black with white trace wire.
No power at the connection. I'll trace it back as soon as I have a bit of time.
This one's on LPG so its not too much of a drama, but would be nice to have that bit of extra go occasionally!
If someone has a wiring diagram that would be handy.

wouldnt think a mechanical pump would work considering the consideral difference between the fuel pressure from an electric pump vs mechanical

if its a carby version the mechanical pump will work fine, its only the efi versions that ahve a high pressure line

both cars have intank pumps dont they?

yeah, both are intank pumps, except one is a more powerful pump using high presure lines, the mechanical pump will work pefect on a carby engine, i know this cause i ran my car like this when my electric pump died
