ok after snaping my near new aerial that i was lucky to get for my car  i thought i might fix this prob ive had even since i put the new headunit the reception has never been the best, and its anoying when i drive along and get a slight shht noise every so oftern and now with the new aerial snaped its even worse
so looks like ill have to put the original aerial back in but whats out there to boost reception as the new aerial did sfa just looked good cos it was all new, or what else can i do to fix a problem like this?
best insulated cable you can find should do wonders.. keeping it well away from power cables down your car. try and elevate the aerial above the car as much as possible. of course getting a taller areial will boost recepetion, but if your not using the aerial for a uhf radio , you wont need to worry too much about signal strengths or db ranges. also make sure you dont have miles and miles of cable, and that its not all twisted around mmmk :)

thanks for the advice....
well im using the stock cabling, but if i bother putting the other one back ill run the cable different as for some reason it runs down the windows then down the drivers side then under the seat then back up threw the console ill just run it strait from the window down behind the dash then in the headunit, also the aerial cant get much higher as there on the roof of the gen1s
so yer ill shortn the cable and run it behind the dash not under the seat and around up the console i have no idea why they made it that way lol
