Hi all, I just bought a '95 KS Verada with 201,000km's on the clock. It is in very good overall condition, and it has a reconditioned engine which was put in around April 2003, when the car had 160k's.

Now, 41000km later, it's still running very well. The only query I have is the origins of this engine, as it looks slightly different from the standard V6 motor that I've seen in TR/TS V6's, because :

Where the "MITSUBISHI" wording and oil filler cap are, is black in colour. If I recall correctly, the standard V6 engine should have a silvery finish there.
(I can't pick any differences from other parts of the engine)

Does anyone know where this motor would have come from - Could it be a second-hand Japanese engine, or, could it have come from maybe, say a Pajero 3000cc V6? I'm pretty sure it's a single-cam 12-valver, as it drives the same as other TR/TS V6's I've driven before. The installer who fitted the engine wrote "6G72" on the receipt.

If anyone's got any ideas of the origins of this engine, I would be very grateful if you could offer your thoughts. (If the engine number would be of any help, let me know, and I'll post it here, ta)

Thanks
Justin

Does it look like this?

Edit: I just realised you said you're sure it's a SOHC 12v, but I thought i'd ask you just the same.

If you can post a pic of it that'd be great.

Killbilly, I wish I had that engine in the pic you supplied!!

No, unfortunately mine doesn't look like that, thanks for your reply though. I will post a photo of my engine tomorrow, when it's brighter.

And Notorious, no, I don't think the finish has faded, because it's actually a fairly even, glossy black, definitely painted to look that way.

Thanks guys

Hi again, just posting a picture of my engine - Hopefully one of you might be able to tell me what model it is originally from!

Like I mentioned in my previous post, it drives, feels and sounds like the usual TR/TS V6, but it's just the black cover that baffles me!

Do they normally have the sexy shiney badge on the rocker cover like in that photo? I thought they were just a silver rocker cover.???
