Not sure on the type but make sure its big and deep cycle.. :D

before you start going crazy on getting a second battery, there are some things that you need to know, first its not as easy as you would think.
For one you will need to change your altinator set up, as you will need to buy a dual charging adaptor,or a complete nex dual charging altinator. What this does is it charges one batery at a time, and then when that one is full and switch changes it to the other one.
I think this is the correct procedure, but not positive, correct me if im wrong.

Also you will need some big ass wire running from your battery, i wouldn't use anything less that 2 gauge wire. then you need to buy some good qual connectors about 20 per terminal.

But before you do all this i would see if your altinator is ok, or i could suject getting a large one, (jaguar make very high output ones if your intrested, and even consider custom) But with only two amps i don't recon a second battery is the go. At one stage i had 4 amps in my car, all running of standard battery and altinator. (in my old 2.4 mag). In my new TJ i have two amps but they draw a total of 2700Watts, or 1360RMS still using standard Tj batt and alt.

Then two batterys does look sweet :D but just a sh** load of effort, if you have the know how and time + money go for it

whats ur system?

It can't be drawing thaaat much current  Is it ur amps not getting enough power? need fatter cables, better ground?

Check ur current battery/alternator condition? Battery in boot is a lot of effort and money. I have a system that draws a ~140A (max, theoretically blah blah sorta thing) and I have a battery from K-Mart and stock alternator.

cant you just put in a capacitor instead of a battery ?

cant you just put in a capacitor instead of a battery ?

dont capacitors just regulate the flow of power?...

Thats one big system.. What size and brands subs and amp u running..??

Capacitor fills in sudden current draws eg thumping bass.

Need a bigger battery if you want to run your stereo for long periods with engine off.

If your alternator can't keep up the current when engine is on, you need a bigger alternator
or change the alternator pulley to make it spin faster (eg if you're always only idling).

All 3 are differrent symptoms - which one is yours??

Upgrade ur battery and wires first. Upgrading to a second battery will mean u are putting too much strain on ur altenator.

What symptoms are u having to make u think u need a second battery?

What wire are u running? How long? Where are ur grounds?

If you go a boot mounted battery you need to ensure it is vented to atmosphere if its not sealed.

I would upgrade wires to 4, 2 or 0 gauge, upgrade ground at the amps and at the battery, upgrade Battery to optima or odyssey, upgrade altenator wires, upgrade altenator, and only after all this would a second battery be beneficial.
(in that order imho)

Peace

ive got 3 amps all up to about 2500rms+ with a standard battery n alt. you wont need another battery just upgrade your battery and cables like the others are telling you to do. the dry cell battery is alot better than two batterys anyway with out changing your alt. and they last longer if you want your amps running to the max use thickes cable you can get for your amps.

yeah well basically, when i have both amps in use ( 900watts rms) the engine isnt gettin enough power and it will stall everytime i stop moving, maybe the battery is just fecked....

Yep sounds like a battery problem, if you have been pumping the tunes a lot. Or pumping them with the engine off. You might be better off with a sealed battery.

Depending on budget go a Odyssey or an Optima.

Also test what your altenator is putting out could be corroded terminals etc. Possibly upgrade ur ground at battery etc.

If your battery is old I'm 90% sure that a replacement will solve your problem
