Im going to be having a go at making my own sub box soon, and am playing around with a few ideas. But I had a thought (I have them occasionally!!) how the hell do I secure the box to the boot floor so it doesnt roll around?? Cause there is a fair bit of weight, so I cant just use velcro like i can on amps...
Any suggestions??
Cheers
Pete
(also anyone got any suggestions for a sealed design? i.e. photos etc to give me some ideas? Im getting a single 10-12"... thinking of the focal 11" though its a tad expensive - $410).

When Building your own Boot Layout it is best to use a False Floor..
This is Usually a Piece of 18mm MDF cut out in the shape of your boot so you can secure your amps and Sub Enclosures to.
When Building your Boot layout, Just make sure you have acess to your Spare..
When I get around to doing my Boot layout properly I will have a False Floor, Carpet it and have a removable section so I can get Acess to my spare and Jack...
When you are Building your own Sub enclosure, it is best to start out with a Cheaper Sub then a focal...
Every sub will require different specifications for Optimal Bass output..
I know it sounds rediculous,Start out easy with a Sony XPLOD or Pioneer Sub unitll you can get your skills up and then when your confident you can build an enclosure that suites a focal then go for it...
Look up the Theile small paramters for your chosen sub, check to see what Volume it requires for maximum efficiency.

what magnat said of you can use velcro as i have seen subs secured to the floor with it and it holds the subs to the floor even when drifting around corners
Velcro
I reckon velcro is a bit dodgey, it will still come loose if u push it hard enuf. Assuming u'll be putting the box between ur wheel arches, this is something I did to my sub box when i secured it.
Assuming the TH and TF boots are the same. Unscrew the two metal brackets that prevent the piece of masonite over ur spare wheel from sliding forward. Grab a small piece of 12 or 16mm mdf and screw it on with the existing screw and holes.
After that, you can then screw ur sub box(from the inside) onto the blocks of mdf.

I used velcro for my 2 JL 12' subs and it holds them no probs. Not a single bit of movement even after months of hooning around. The weakest part of the velcro is not the velcro itself but the tape used to hold the velcro to the boot bottom. If thats good then no probs
you could always create a custom bracket like I have using the two extra child restraint bolt holes (2nd gen here) and screwing down the bracket onto the top o the sub box. Does teh 3rd gens have those extra bolt holes?
Yeah, Its just u don't want to take the risk of my sub box getting airborne in a serious accident. I dunno how heavy my box is....10 or so kg sub and a wopping big box

Same thing Required in a Magna Wagon, a Big Sheet of MDF covered with Carpet and Bolt your Sub box to it, just run it under the Whole length of your boot and there should be no worries..

L brackets to the side of the box then just into the flimsy MDF that it comes with to cover the spare. May sound dodge but its never moved an inch and ive had the car well and truly side ways.

Me and my mate just put his sub in predone box in his car. Glued some timber to the boot metal with liquid nails and then put brackets around the four edges. Later that night crashed the car  .
We didnt bother to actually bolt the brakets to the sub. So it was good around corners but not over trafic islands :bowrofl: .
