Hey guys and girls. About 2 weeks ago i went for a trip down to sutherland to visit my mate Marty. Welcomed with a smile, then a frown we went underway in trying to complete 2 days work in 1 day with rain threatening. My 6x9's where first with the terminals being properly soldered and heatshunk to ensure even though they are sony, they will pump out those tunes. Next was the engine bay with a custom fuse mount being knocked up to hold the fuses. 2 8ga power leads then ran into my car no fuss. I also recieved an earthing upgrade from the battery.

Then the facia was removed for the attachment of the amps. All leads a securely held down and together threw about 1000 cable ties and 50m of tape. :bowrofl: The response 2x150WRMS was first in, run in bridged mode for 450WRMS to the sub, it just fit under the passenger side seat. 2x16ga power cables ( apparently makes it a 10ga ) provides the power to the sub. Next was the Audison SRx2 to power the FS-60's. It went under my bum. Secured by eeks favourate, velcro lol 16ga power cables run to the crossovers.

Facia back together, doors off for deadening. On it went and after some struggle the cord to the woofer from the crossover gets threw the grommet ( no swearing hey marty :bowrofl: ) Woofer attached, crossover in the kicks, and tweeters mounted on custom pillars underneath the dash for staging.

Tuning went underway and with no sub the volume, low and high, from the splits was incredable standing outside with the door shut. On the inside it was 10x as good as i thought. Add the Boston 12.5lf for <60Hz and bang big big big big grin. Thanks heaps Marty for the sterio and i fully recommend FHRX studios to everyone. How do you attach pics cause everytime i go to manage attachments it takes an hour then says server not found.

Like all shops fitting is $60.50/ hr. Although Marty doesnt charge every minute. It you would like something done i think it best to ask him and get a quote :D He would only be to happy to help you.

Dam smallest photo i have is 400MB and the limit is 97MB, how can i make them smaller? They are jpegs currently. Even when i shrink them in paint and cut bits out they end up in KB  i hate computers :doubt:

Pity your in SA dude, i find them great, my girlfriend and mum even like them saying they sounded so real ( and they weren't in the car :bowrofl: ). Definately need to amp them though, when they ran off the headunit they just sounded normal. Staging and SD helps in a big way to. Umm Hertz HSK-165 should so they trick as well, bit more $$$ though.

I can ring you and you can listen to them on the phone lol

Shrink them to like 20% of height and width in paint. Just keep shrinking till they are the right size.

lol If I got $60 for each hour I spent on my car

Sorry for the picture quality, had to cut, paste, chew and everything else. :doubt: Work is much better in real life.

97_verada the Bostons are $299 but someone said they went up to $349  Anyway 10% for AMC members :D They are from Boston Acoustics. Visit www.bostonacoustics.com for more information. If the kicker dont perform, try deadening your doors an using a small amp, 50WRMS per channel will be fine. Also mount the tweeters in the kicks for better staging then if they dont perform, by all means try something else :)

Ha i would have lots of money and i think that tim would be a millionare if we got $60 / hr for playing.

Ha ha ha ego, guess you hail from the mother land lol

thanks champ, yeh iv got a 220w blakpaunt amp to power the splits which i will run on low power as they wont need that much power. But i have yet to hook it all up due to being busy with uni and work and helping the missus move house and town and all the stuff that goes with it. But ill have a look at the bostons for sure if these kickers dont perform as i have a mate who should be able to get them at cost if i pay him to install them for me
cheers

b/w $50 and $250. Depends how much you want to spend.

law of diminishing returns.

I reckon spend the money and do it right the first time. Buy good quality stuff and lots of surface prep and sealing. I don't know why everyone doesn't seal up their doors. It's soo cheap. couple of bucks for a roll of duct tape and some mdf.

But u can go nuts, do the trim with paint on stuff, both sides of the doors, seal the lot.

And ffs can anyone tell me how to stop my window handles from vibrating!!! lol

Using elastic bands now. But they look too messy.

Peace

Tim

Yeah i am one to not do it right the first time, well used to and now i know why it is good to do it right. :D Make sure you do the inner and outer skins when you deaden and get a foam textile thing for behind the woofer.

Window handles.. what are those.. i have power windows :bowrofl: Its not the clip that holds them on rattling?

Try and make your door like the pic :D

No not the clip that rattles on the door. Im positive it is the actual winder. As the thing spins while the tunes are pumping lol

Yep that's one problem when u extensively deaden... The rattles just move onto the next weak link.

We often use velcro to secure amplifiers under seats because you're mainly fighting sliding movements and I have this thing against drilling holes in peoples cars, especially in floors where a tonne of water can come through. This is the reason we also make fuse holders instead of chucking a couple of self tappers in the shock tower.

Velcro and Blu Tac are your Best Friends in Car Audio, just like Duct tape is for Body Repairs !!
Does the Job even if it is not a Car audio specific Item...

yea, i aint into drilling holes either, lol I've never tried using velcro to secure amps down, hell i don't even know where to get it from! its all liquid nails, screws and mdf for me

did i mention i like ur front stage? mm, audison.

Battery cover is off for the photos dude so you can see the fully sick wiring job :bowrofl: Liquid nails ha, imagine someone trying to steal your amp and it is held down with that
