I may or i may have not gone 228km/h on the m4
and it may or may have not been in my auto TE
and it may of may have not been in fourth doing about 4500rpm
i might or might have not been keeping my eyes on the road ( a good idea at that speed )
I might be going and getting dinner now
Cheerio Lads
Luke ( Maybe )
well if i was to see wat my limiter was if i was to go that fast i would let u know
however.... i'll get back to u wen its not raining
will it be the same as though on the road as on a dyno ?

alright im trying to get around this speed limiter thing.. I disconected the speedo sensor and the box and presto, no speed limiter but no speedo too.. I got to 5500rpm in 5th and she wouldnt go any farster.. Def fastest she been.. :D
Thats why i wanna know what speed limiter rpm is so i can tell whats going on.. :D

I highly doubt that due to our friends friction and air resistance...Damn physics does teach something
The Photographer

technically it will be slower as you have to factor in wind resistance and rolling resistance
not factors when on a dyno

Yeah thats what i was hoping.. The haltech computer works with the ecu not against it.. still has all normal procedures.. :D

As a guess, their has to be atleast 3 wires on the sensor, (i'm not sure even more if you have cruise), one would be signal to the speedo another may be the signal to the speed limiter, you need to find which one is which, unless the ecu goes off the speedo guage signal.

what ive found is the speed sensor that goes to the ECU puts out varable voltage depending on speed - example, 3v @ 150km/hour 3.5v @ 180kw/hour, 3.9v @ 200km/hour etc etc..
i think the limiter activates when the voltage reads 5v.
so - you could put a capasitor(?) or if you have an aux on your piggback, feed your speed wire into your piggy back and specify that the voltage on that port is not to exceed say, 4.95v, the limiter may not kick in...
ive got a full aftermarket - so no problems with me.. lol - altho, when the needle leaves 240 and your doing around 5700rpm, and the full boost is still being jammed through the engine - its ****ing scary! (my own exerpience!)
i was told this by a guy who use to be on this forums.
untested and unknown on its adverse effects.

Thats how most sensors work either varying voltage or varying resistance, what i was wondering is, is that the only signal wire to the ecu for speedo/limiter, or is their sepperate signal wires,

The magna speed sensor is pulse (hall effect) driven from the diff housing.
The 3 wires are Power, signal and ground.
Booya, I think you may have seen an "average" voltage based on the frequency of the pulses. The sensor is definitely a pulse not voltage based.
Ego, get a haynes or gregories for your car. There will be 1 signal wire to the ECU from the speed sensor. Cut this near the ecu and test. You should still have speedo (as the sensor signal is split and drives both separately) ... but no speed cut.

Do a search.
Just after 7k in the manuals. Autos are lower. Most manuals top out around 220ish and autos 200ish. If 5500 is the highest rpm in 5th you can reach then you've reached the limit of your engines power.

But the fuel cut at 6800.. Speed limited to 215 on the manuals so u will never hit make revs.. what to know what the 3 wires do in the back of the sensor.. :D
Blake i would assume so as at the end of the day ur car can only go so fast.. it just wont have the drag of wind speed etc etc.. :D

surly the magna can get over 200Km easy, iv had my verada up to 200 and it felt easy as felt like i could get it to 220 easy, might try that one day in controlled conditions though as iv been in my old mans wrx at 230 and damn those trees fly by fast

Ralliart is Speed limited to 240 i thing.. Tzaboy will have an answer..Jase its 240 isnt it..??
The problem is that i dont know how to get around the speed limiter.. so far all i can do is disconect the speed sensor which then you loose the speedo so who knows.. Which then brings me back to me original question..What is rpm in 5th when u hit speed limiter..??
I think its around 4800-5000rpm but not sure.. without the speed sensor hooked up i got 5500rpm in top gear and that was damn quicker than ive been before but i dont what it was as i had no speedo.. it only stopped at 5500 as thats max power and she couldnt push any harder.. had more road left.... :D

you'll find that altho 200km/hour seems "easy" the torque in a stock engine drops off considerable...
no torque = no pulling power...
also gotta factor wind resistance... altho the magna has a drag co. of only .28, lack of torque is the killer..
hence like mine, were the engine is still pushing the car, its not running out of rpm, and the torque is still sufficient in the top end, it will keep pulling until either i run out of gearing, or the latter - cant push the car against the wall of air anymore.
i think you'll find 200km/hour the magna is more then capable, 220 is at the limit of rpm.

Why do you need to get around the limiter anyway? Is there something that a speed limiter does that I don't know (as in detrimental to power at lower speeds). Surely you couldn't cruise around at this speed in a Magna for extended periods of time anyway?
