Hey guys,

I've decided to whack my old factory CD player and speakers into my girlfriends old gemini to give her something to listen to other than the radio every day.

I've got most of it all hooked up with no probs, but I want to be certain what each of the wires is for in the back of the CD player before I give it power and blow something up. And due to the age of my girlfriends car, any sort of wiring standard that may have come in to the car industry is sort of non-existant in her car and I'm having to do it all the hard way.

So does anyone out there have a wiring diagram .... or at least just tell me what each of the coloured wires corresponds to in the back of the deck so that I can be certain I've got it right.

cheers

I would have thought that the wiring colours were on the top of the CD player - that is normally a requirement!!

What have you hooked up and what are you having trouble with??

Should only be:

1 x power wire - Red??
1 x earth - Black??
1 x constant - Yellow??
8 x speaker wires
1 x remote / electric aerial

what model car was the stereo out of in the first place??

If its hooked up incorrectly the worst that can happen is a blown fuse, even thats a major pain...

Go to your local library and see if they have a gregorys repair manual for the gemini, most librarys do and they are very helpful.

Is the wiring in her car mono or stereo?

Well - it doesnt really matter about the gemini wiring - if worst comes to worst rip the whole lot out and wire the magna (assuming it is a magna) stereo straight in - lead wires through to firewall to battery, to ignition, to a suitable earth, and then run new speaker wiring through to all places - this way it doesnt matter what the setup was in the gemi - it is all new now - so it will be easier to work with in the future.

That is how i wired up the stereo in my old corolla - because it only had front speakers from an AM radio - i re-wired the whole thing from scratch - that way i knew what was what
