hey team,
booked my car in to get my unichip retuned on tuesday as i'm racing wednesday night. Its out of tune because it was tuned with the K&N CAI and i have since taken it off without retuning. I was speaking with my mechanic just saying to ring the neck out of it cause i want as much stick to help me get my 13 second pass (to let ppl know, i missed a 13 second pass by .007 seconds last time) and he said he could tune to launch control on the chip to help me get off the line.
This means while at stand still, if i floor it the engine will only rev as far as i want it, I launch at around 4,000RPM so he will set it at that, once the clutch engauges the launch control is over ridden and i'll be able to rev to 6,500rpm cutout. if he's not busy on wednesday he'll come to the drags with his computer and play around with it to get it perfect.
i hope i can get into the 13's, i'll try and get some1 to video it so we can all have a look at the race.

dunno
1 thing he's gonna look into for me is an in car dial to adjust it, but it might be a huge **** around so he doesnt know if thats possible. We'll just wait and see
Most piggybacks can do it Ego..
And im sure the Haltech is no exception..

That form of launch control works by retarding the ignition so the engine won't rev any harder.
The problem with this is EGT skyrockets (and I mean skyrockets!!) and this is hard on exhaust components (think GLOWING extractors!!). So you don't want to just sit there at 4000rpm waiting for the "GO" signal. Use it more as a means to prevent "over shooting" 4000 rpm as you bring out the clutch! :)
With high EGT and turbos you get excellent spooling results ... so the same technique is used for building boost for takeoff on Turboed cars! :)

Also, if they are using the clutch switch (from the cruise) as a means by which to "enable" launch control (ignition retard), then its likely you will be able to FLAT SHIFT :)

i flat shift anyway. By the time im in the next gear, the revs dont quite hit cutout

Yes, but flat shifting without retarding ignition is damaging, you are "accelerating" an unloaded engine (bad juju).

ohh.....oops
well, i only do it at the drags, unless im racing some1 elsewhere from the drags and its a close 1.
hmmm, i'll ask all these questions before we do the retune on tuesday. seeing i'm forking out for it i may as well get the absolute max out of my engine without screwing it up.
thanx for the advice tooslow
lots of love..juju :gtfo:

And also getting it re-tuned may help with your sale m8? I know I'd rather get a car that tuned than not tuned. :D I'll cya on Wednesday
