hi all,
Just having this thought in my head the past few weeks, I could buy another magna like mine but with way lower ks (i got 161,000kms) by selling mine and putting another 2-3k out of my own pocket. Im very happy with my car and would have no issue buying another one. Ive had no problems at all with the car. The only thing im worried a bit bout is the high k's.
Do you all think its better off selling this one, buying the same car with lower k's or just keep this one until it dies? I mean i suppose there is no guarantee that a lower k car would be as reliable as mine is...

stick with what you know ... at least with the car you have now you know or should know what is wrong with it ... at the end of the day there's not really much point just changing the same model car and paying a few xtra thousand just to get less k's on it
unless it has more options on it like cruise, power windows etc
buying another car could just mean your buying somebody else's problem (sometimes)

Well one reason im asking is because this friend I know her dad has a black TH sports, manual with only 85thousand ks hes gonna apparently sell soon. I can get it cheaper coz i know em but I knwo what u mean.. I know my car back to front and I know whats wrong with it etc

mate, only reason if ever u wanted to swap sell your car.
would be if worried about re-sale,less k's realistically more value
but if u plan on taking it to the ground your not looking at selling so keep it

Hehehehe, high ks,,,,,,mine has over 280,000 on it, and still going strong, you cant kill these dang cars I tell yas.
I reckon keep it if it's still good, as long as cars are serviced regularly then generally they last a long time.
yer im on 270 000km
i bought the car to drive not to worry bout resale value

But then again say the worst happens and you blow an engine or gearbox - the same $2-3K will solve that problem.... better the devil you know I say.

I totally agree! Mine has 245k on it and has been totally reliable (bar the starter motor) But it is a wearing part so these things happen...Oh and the clutch is sloooowly dying. Not bad for an original clutch though! Drive it till it dies!
280,000k. Oh, how we wish the Astrons could go that far sometimes!

this thread has made me feel better about my 184 000kms on my TE. I still prefer driving it than Dads brand new TL though!

Mines just cracked 112,000kms, for a 99 model, not too bad.
I think the low kms resale value is a bit of a myth. I would prefer to buy a car that has been looked after well and done a few than a sunday driver that has been up to proper running temp only once or twice in its life.
Short cold trips kill engines faster than long drives. As long as the body is looked after I cant see the big deal.

My TF was at 165,000 when I bought it a few years back.... it is now nearly 225,000 and has given me next to no trouble at all... why? I reckon it had been looked after damn well by the previous owner (ex-company car) and I still get it regularly serviced and tuned. I tend to drive it hard but it never falters, plus I only ever use the top fuels and oils even though they cost a mint. (longer term benefits)

my old tn got me 360 000 i think it was :)

True, mine was an exceptionally low km car (I got it at 157,000km in August last year). There's signs that it has missed several services (anything up to 30,000km between oil changes), and it was a city car.
The extensive rebuilding to the block I have should see me over half a million.
