yo people, i was looking around on a website and found some wheels which i thought would be the absolute ducks nuts on my car, except they are saying the smallest size you can get is 18x8.5
my question, how wide can your wheels be on a 3rd gen magna? ive heard that your maximum tyre width is 225 on magnas.. you could never get 225's on an 8.5 inch wide wheel!
heres a link btw.. http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=ITEM+%238017&part_no=806

I had 17x8" rims before the vrx rims I have now. These had 235's on em and had no dramas.
I guess it depends mainly on your insurance company, so check with them.
As far as I know, as long as the tyre stays inside the guard and it doesnt foul on anything (at full lock) its sweet. But that was in NSW a while back now so I dont know if its changed.

In WA I believe you're not allowed to exceed 1" wider than standard rim width up to a maximum rim width of 7" ...

what do you mean maximum width of 7"?
what about SS's or XR8's with 7.5" to 8" width?

In NSW, the law used to be (not sure about now) any width was legal, as long as the overall track was no more than 1" more than stock, and it didn't protrude from the guards or foul the body.

Rim width must not exceed the maximum rim width specified by the manufacturer by more than 25mm (1") (for passenger vehicles manufactured after 1st January 1973, the manufacturers rim width shall be taken as that specified on the tyre placard).
In any event, rim width shall not exceed 177.8 mm (7") unless specified by the manufacturer as standard equipment for the vehicle in question. No increase in rim width is permitted for vehicles fitted with original equipment rims in excess of 177.8 mm (7") width.
