my bro was off in fairyland and suddenly turns to me out of nowhere and says,
"Could u have a nos-like turbo shot?"
me says "WTF???"
"i mean could u have a compressor or tank of compressed air that worked when u pressed a button like nos? wouldn't that do the same thing as a turbo only for short times therefore making it more durable???"
me says " i have NFI. but i know some ppl who might."
so here i am.
What do u guys think. is it possible? how would u go about it?

You'd be better off with just a normal Nitros injection system.
A compressor will have to run off the motor/alternator and it will take away power..

Unless it was just a bottle of compressed air like scuba gear. Don't know if it would work or be of benefit.
either way u'd still have to decompress the motor as u would for a turbo wouldnt ya? so if your gonna do all the engine work might as well slap a turbo on it,........ :badgrin:

Electric-clutch supercharger operates like this. When power is demanded the supercharger kicks in, when you are cruising it stops. Sorry no button like Mad Max, it's ECU controlled. :(
MerBenz & Toyota both have these types of supercharger working. Check out MOGWA, there's a thread about this there. :)

What if you intercept the control wire for the clutch and just hook up a switch :D , Plenty of these type of kits for Comodores around.

Do u mean like and INTERCOOLER? They suck air in...
Do u mean ud have pipes running off the compressor pushing air threw?
It would be possible...but they take abit of power to run...and compressors are pretty heavy!

Yer I guess you could. But I'd recommend you run it to a switch box first, so that normal operation was ECU controlled, for fun times you switch to manual operation (like at drags or autokhana).
For what DSL-03L describes you might as well run a full-time supercharger; either way the car will be drained of power, whether it be driving the compressor wheel of a s/c or a bigger alternator to run an electric air compressor. The lower power drain of the bigger alternator would be offset by the extra weight of the compressor and lines (doubt if you'd fit one in the engine bay).

Say somhow you got around the weight issue(maybe like Redav mentioned just have a compressed air bottle in the car)how would you impliment this system.
a) would you place the vent valve(air injector whatever it can be called) onto the intake plumbing somewhere befor the T/B?, in that case it wouldn't it be a good idea to place it before the air flow meter so the engine can add more fuel so it would work?
If so, even if the pressure released was enough to acctaully be of benefit wouldn't it just escape in the opposite direction as it decompresses(out of the intake)? resulting in practically no real increase in intake presure.
b) maybe place the valve after the T/B, like directlly into the plenum chamber? well then how would the ECU know more air is pressent in the engine?
Just a few thoughts....
Once you figure out everything else, you have to consider that your engine consumes a shitload of air. If you want say, 1 Bar of boost, an average size scuba tank (85 ft^3 @ atmospheric pressure) will last about 5 seconds on a 3 L engine at 6000 RPM.

dam, all that extra weight for just 5 seconds of boost..than you have to go and refil it...lol
