Im lookin to buy a 96 TE manual.
What troubles have you guys had with them?
What should i be lookin out for when i go to a dealer?
Does any one have any performance stats?
And what should i spend 6 grand on when i get it?

96 Magna almost no troubles at all, well mine is a very early 97 so very similar and the main things that go wrong is CV joints, had water pump replaced and nothing else the entire time we have had ours.
Performance well it deponds on the ks on hte car and how well its been looked after but i think Tim-e in his TE got a 15.15@1/4 which is what most are getting, though most are slower too.
6 grand wheels, coilovers, CAI, Extractors Exhaust.

Coilovers arent illegal unless they are set too low and even then its an easy fix.

Ok what i would spend on a manual TE, assuming mechanically it is all good.
17's or 18s, with kings and monroe shocks all round - $2500
Full s/s exhaust, extractors, CAI - $1000?
haltech - $1500 tuned?
the remaining grand on the best brakes $1000 can buy

I've got a 96 TE Manual V6 and as soon as I find a Yellow VRX that I like I'll be selling it. It's Gun Metal Grey (ie. Charcoal), with Cruise Control, Pacemaker Extractors, 2.5" Cat-Back with a Redback muffler, K&N Panel (which I'll probably keep for the new Magna), 16" Alloys. It has 184,000km on the clock (and I can safely say that 60-70% of that is highway stuff - it's done a trip to Adelaide and back as well as many, many, many trips down to Sydney and back. Plus the person who owned it before me used to drive along the New England Highway every day). I keep it well serviced, so it has never caused me any problems. Goes like a dream, smooth yet powerful take-off and handles beautifully.
From what I can gather this is a pretty rare manual with cruise, not to mention it's in the best colour lol . It'll go in for new tyres soon, so they'll be fairly new by the time I sell it. It all depends on when the right VRX pops up. I'm gonna put it up for $9500 ono when it's time.
