benny was in a hurry.

benny forgot to properly do up bonnet pins

benny got a fright when his bonnet decied to eject @ 80km/hour lol

benny now has a busted bonnet :P

main aim of the story - what do you guys think of a matt black bonnet with my gold in the clear coat. so it appears to be black - but in the light it will have a nice shade of gold? so would still be metallic.

boy ricer / it could look quite effective? (remembering my mods already justify any "rice" that could be had lol

thoughs... oh - and no more bonnet scoop :P just a plain black bonnet - what do you guys think maybe even a TJ bonnet like above in black?

im still thinking of a TE bonnet tho - cos the wider lines just make the car seem wider?

also - i mentioned black bonnet because

a) cheaper then my gold colour
b) means booya will be without car while they colour match
c) something different - hell, booya already screams look at me, look at me, so would this really have that look at me effect? :doubt:
d) mainly cos it means id have to get it colourmatched :( - *could* be bad - specially if they cant colour match it perfectly :(

(for those wondering why i dont have a latch - the FMIC and the latch didnt have enought room to share space lol one had to go, and it was the latch :badgrin: ) now the bonnet is only held in by the pins - oh, and for security, i lock those pins if im in a carpark lol

Rice is rice and I've never seen a car that looks good with a black bonnet. In this case, think of how nice the Hawthorne, Wolverton and Balmain jersies looked.

IMO there is nothing worse then a painted black bonnet. its carbon or nothing.
but along the lines of paiting it to do a colour change to gold in sun light, there is a new paint(which my car is gettin sprayed in in next few weeks) which is similar to a pearl as it is a spray over standard base coat, but does a full colour change like a harliquine. this is availbile in a gold colour change and looks very tidy. paint is called zircon, check it out :)

Someone did a chop of one on here not that long ago of this exact thing.....cant actually recall wether it looked any good or not....I did a search but I cant seem to find it again either :confused:

I would have two concerns with what you're contemplating and they both relate to heat:

1) Would a black bonnet not attract more heat from the sun. You're in the Top-End afterall.

2) Some sort of scoop or vents would prolly be a good idea, again 'cos of the heat factor.

nah, the damge is just local to the bonnet..

the bonnet struts held the bonnet there - the bonnet just went up, jammed the struts (had to undo them to get the bonnet off) and yer, so the top half of the bonnet is bent (we tried to rebend it back into its normal postion, but bent it more - its not really that noticable, but its enough for me to say - "ah f-k.. my perfect car has a dented bonnet" lol

so yer, it still functions, (replaced struts) opens cloese and isnt very noticable, but yer, its enought to piss me off!! lol


regards to the black in the top end - yes and no - my car lives in its garage, i only take it out to drive.. i dont park it :), and its mainly a night driver - so yer, the heat is the last thing on my mind :) heheh

well u like the big intercoolers so maybe u could get an even bigger one but have it as a top mount and use that as yur bonnet

i like the idea of the XR8 bulge on the TE/TF bonnet... that in the gold colour would look very sweet IMO.. :badgrin:

Leave the XR8 bonnet bulge.. You would get laughed at for having it.. Keep it functional and clean mate :)

that front bar is ok (without the extra 5 lips) but i think they added the entire spoiler shop catalogue to that....

i'd like to see how long those mirrors would hold up without a frame to support them
