Gday,
I was wondering what are the benefits of having a car lowered around 2.5" -3" and what are the disadvantages. I mean some are obvious, but i just want feedback from people that have done this. My shocks are in need of replacement soon, so this is gonna be my next major mod. Are adjustable cambers necessary ( i want to get 18/17" chromes down the track). And what brands are good

Cheers
Aaron

when you drop the car that low then yes camber kits are required!!

i am looking at getting 18's soon and then i will put lower springs in it straight away - i dont know how low i wanna go so i thought i would put the wheels on first and see how far i need to drop it to make it look good - ie no huge gap between the rubber and gaurds - and then move onto the rest of the suspension setup at a later date - read - when i get more money. i am looking at lowering maybe 2.5"s with lovells springs and koni adjustble's - either that or i hear that tein do a suspension kit for ralliart - still trying to source details on that one though - though i would kill to get tein onto my magna!!

When you drop a car more than 3"s the only advantage is looks, everything else is a disadvantage. It will scrape like a bugger, be one very very stiff and bumpy ride, won't be to good for your struts if your just replacing the springs and chances are you'll be defected in no time.

The lowest i would go is 3" front and 2.5" rear. That would give you a very very nice ride and would really tighten up handling.

Just so you guys know, king springs are the way to go. I've been in magna's with them all, lovells, pedders and whiteline and nothing beats king.

To the original poster of this thread, If you live in sydney and want to buy my lovells superlow springs (see for sale section), I,d be glad to let you take them off my hands. After bouncing all over Sydney for the last 12 months I,ve gone back to the original suspension setup on my TJ sports, and the change is heaven on my back and ass, and my family now want to go for drives in the car. Sure, it looked mean when lowered, and handled better on SMOOOOTH roads, but hell, get ready to cop a hammering on rough roads, which Sydney is full of. I would even go so far as to say it now handles better, due to the suspension working properly around lumpy bumpy corners.

umm...ive lowered mine 2 3/4 a d front n 3 1/4 at the back...its a rough ride at times...but looks mean!

i would luv to go about 1/4-1/2" at the bak so my car sits FLAT...atm the back is just slightly higher.

Handeling...not special...im using king springs it holds beta than standard but would luv new shocks etc. but no more $ is goin on my magna nemore.

Im like blake and recommend king springs...i used em in my TS wagon...lowered 1 1/2 all round and it handled like it was on rails! i kid u not...i would take on nething if i new i was near bends!

but if u goin more then 2" down id recomend gettin shocks...camber kit...the whole lot!
