I know the Verada Xi has had steering wheel mounted controls for a few years. Is the wiring already there in other verada's? Also how is the wiring done so that it doesnt get wound up? Any ideas on how to get it apart without going near the airbag?

Thanks

i don't know about gen3 maybe mitsu started to use common looms with blank plugs in lower spec models.
i am currently swapping a TR SE into a TR exec shell. I have found that there are big differences in wiring looms between the different spec cars and to swap all the accessories i am going to have to swap the dashboard, ecu/tcu and most looms as well.
eg the SE i am stripping has cruise and power windows, it has the plug in the engine loom for the cruise control unit. another SE and the exec shell i have here has no cruise and don't have the cruise unit plug or cruise wiring in the looms. None of my cars appear to have Elite/Verada steering wheel stereo buttons wiring

to allow for the steering wheel movement and wiring manuacturers either use a contact pin and ring on the steering wheel (like most car horns) or for airbags where there can be no risk of bad contact they use a unit between the wheel and steering column that will wrap and unwind the wires like a clock spring with steering wheel movement.

is it possible they would just work like a remote, my pioneer head unit has a remote which is fitted to the steering wheel, it has no cords attached, could this be the case with the standard models?

I got a KF Xi wheel here with the wheel remote. It's got wires and a plug with 2 contacts. The TE - TJs I've seen don't have the extra connector. I'd say the Xi's have a different clock spring.

Thanks for that, just looking for a neat way to run some wires tangle free to the steering wheel. If anybody has any ideas Im all ears.
