I recently got a set of the clear/frosted tail lights for my TF advance, but the bulbs show up kinda pinky colour. Then i had a thought that i could put red LED bulbs in instead, can this be done?? Is it just a simple swap the bulbs over or something more complicated?
Also does anyone else have this problem and if so what did you do to fix it?

Thanx guys

I used the search feature typed in "bulbs" and found this recent post

Check out post number 10, I will be ordering these myself soon. Not quite what you are after, but might be worth finding out about.

try www.srsauto.com and they have some reflective tipped bulbs for clear tailights.

let me know how they go, seen some LED bulbs on ebay, they say they replace the standard bulb, but they look to big to fit, emailed guy selling them asking what the measurements are

Hey mate, I just went to Autobarn to get new bulbs and went to order the ones from that other thread and the guy at autobarn swore by these LED's, so I bought them for $12 each... not bad... the only thing is.. they are definitely redder but don't really glow enough for day time, in fact they are a bit average in that respect... now these photos are obviously during the day, I am sure these bulbs are going to look great at night... but it is day time you have to really be worried about IMO... I will take more pics when it gets dark. (note: ignore the orange yellow colour in the images... it is definitely red... just the way the camera caught the light)

I might just order the others anyway and see how they differ.

Anyway... here is the product code:
3A Racing - Professional Bulb Series
AAA-5221R
LED LIGHT - BAYONET GLOBE
RED 11 LED T-25 15D Dual Base

These pics don't do it justice but the LED's are awesome at night... you would barely tell they are frosted... and certainly no longer pink lol... for nite time the LED's get the big thumbs up from me :D

Left hand light is standard globe... right hand light is LED's... first image, brakes off... normal driving... right with brakes on... as I said... these pics don't do them justice!

I don't have clear tail lights but have also used LED tail lights to give me more brightness and a better RED look.
When I tinted my tail lights the difference between tail and brake was not as noticeable. I like the tinted look but still wanted the saftey of others being able to see my brake lights. So I went to an auto electrician to see what I could do. He sold me the attached LED Bulbs (which he had just got in) which have LEDs on the sides and well as on the top (10 LEDs on the sides and 3 on the top).

The attached pictures are of my Magna - as you can see the difference between the standard bulb tail to brake has been improved with the LEDs. The LEDs are slightly brighter in tail light mode and heaps brighter in brake/stop light mode. The are also more red if you understand what I mean.

There are also some orange indicator ones available too but they have not come in yet.

that LED bulb looks like a much better design than the one I have as it looks like it covers more area... not just straight out... might have to try to find that brand.

That looks sweet. What did you use to tint the tail lights cos it makes them look heaps better!

It's specific light tinting spray paint - bought it from AutoBarn - It's called something like 'Night Shades'. Cost around $15. (don't think it's totally legal tho :doubt: )
You just keep applying coats until the desired darkness/tinting is achieved - keeping in mind the more coats - the darker they go - and the less light gets thru.
I applied about 2 coats the first time - put them back on my car, only to take them off again about 4-5 weeks later to apply 1-2 more coats. Luckily they are easy to remove. :D

IMO...
- Darker cars suit tinted lights.
- Lighter cars suit clear or altezza tail lights
(Unfortunately, no-one can find clear lights for the 2nd GENs  )

It would suck if you were denied an insurance claim if someone ran up your behind and claimed that you had brakelights out...

Insurance companies like any old reason to deny a claim.

The LED lights fitted to the first car (white one with clear tails) should be ripped out and thrown in the bin... Terrible.

Yo Neil,
If you want the LED to look properly in the day time, you'll have to run a couple more in series, have them facing sideways and straight out, that'll give you more area, thats why GRDPUCK's look better, cuz he has more in there, sometihng to do with how LED travels.
