You'll notice the difference!
Especially in the high rpm

Don't wanna tell u what to do or rubbish Lukey - but check www.xforce.com.au
They have nice, fully stainless, polished, twin pipe mufflers. Sold/welded by Australian Best Tyres in Sydney (sorry - where are u?)
Looks and sounds great, very similar sound to Lukey, slightly louder maybe.
But they are not bolt on stuff unlike Lukey - I have heard - is.

yeah I have the lukey bolt on and killer has the xforce. His dual pipes deffinately look sexier and the cars sound very similar (when he drives off I still check its not my car being stolen) although the xforce is probably a touch louder. As for performance differences between the two it's hard to tell because I could beat killers car without leaving 1st gear :p

Sorry Slayer - you are sleeping and dreaming again. ;)
There is only one way to find out.... 8)

Depends which lukey you get as to whether it's bolt on or weld on (btw...why make that point? There's no performance difference between bolt on and weld on)
The LR2779 which is what I have is a weld on.
Also he's already got the muffler...no use giving him other options now!
Besides, the Lukey is a great muffler, you wont have a problem with it and you'll notice the difference for sure.

well im back... with my muffler... didnt get a tip yet though.. hehe.. yes it looks bad...
anyway... sound is good... but i want it louder... you can hear it well when taking off... but driving... not really...
when driving it sounds good at about 2000rpm ... when i get up there with the revs you cant hear it that much... all you can hear is the engine which i dont like the sound of...
i paid $220 installed without a tip from right price exhausts...
i want it louder... and more sounding at higher revs...
otherwise.. i like the sound of it...
also... it isnt shiny.. .should it be?

Be patient. Some people feel that you should take it easy for the first several hundred km's to let it 'settle in'. I got no idea if there's anything to substantiate that but I know that after having mine for 1000km's, it's definately louder once it's warmed up.
also... it isnt shiny.. .should it be?
Nope. It's stainless steel so if you want, you could polish it but it's there to have a tip attached. I like mine without a tip for the moment. It looks humble and simple. Got any pics?

Killer, what XForce muffler did you get? and what are their prices like?
got any close-up pics of it?

nice car mate.... but you definately need to get a tip on that. but not too big cos when your lower your car (which you are goin to right?>) your tip can scrape some driveways/entrances. I learnt that the hard way when i had a 3" burnt titanium tip

Dude when u got ur muffler on u shoulda got ur originl piping taken off an sum new piping put on through to ur cat like i did!
MagnaArt

 mucked that up
yeh like i did with my piping, got more!
Then with my k+n filter and CAI it makes a hell mint noise considering i don't have extractors!

Soothers if you wanted heeps of noise you shoulda got a canon on the end.
I got my exhaust done with 2.25" from cat back into a 4 inch turbosmart canon muffler.
It looks awesome and it was insanely loud.
The shorter your canon is the louder its going to be.
Mine was that loud I had to go and get a resonator put in it to quieten it a little.
Although its still way loud now.
But one thing you do have to worry about though is like what 'THEDIFFERENCE' said about scraping on driveways and such.
It came to 570 all up with the resonator put on later.

What piping did you get?
soothers
13-08-2003, 07:44 PM
i got the piping with the muffler...
like from where it bolts on to the muffler.. then out from the muffler is the piping that came with the lukey...
i think when i get a tip it will make it a little louder because theyve gotta cut some of the piping off ..
Slayer

Yep thats what my lukey bolt on looked like for about 30secs before the installer cut the end piece off and welded the tip on
i got this big cannon on mine
Gone...

extractors dont really change the noise charictoristics of the xhuast
cheers for that pic slayer, Killer, that exhaust looks wicked, I love it!
what muffler was it (i.e. model number) and how much did it cost you?

soother, the easiest way to change your exhaust note now would be to get the resonator removed... and while your at it change the cat to a sports variant.... makes for greater flow (these are supposedly the next biggest hinderence after the original muffler!)

soothers, (and anyone else with a Lukey)
I'm looking at getting one, but I really want to make sure it's the right sound for me.
I want it to be a little 'mean' when I really jump on the pedal - maybe make noise from 3 or 3.5k upwards.
What I really don't want is for it to be 'droney'. I really hate that noise both inside and outside the car. I would go insane if it was loud while driving along and I'd hate it.
Next time your driving along normally (ie, 4th gear 60ks, 5th gear 80ks and 5th gear 100ks or 120ks) can you tell me what it sounds like. Can you hear the difference at all ? or is it just normal unless you drop down a gear and plant it?
thanks

its not loud by any means!! but under load its bloody nice! especially when cruisin, accel in 4th 60-100km/h sounds so sweet! no drone at all (not even at 2000rpm) in my setup (3.5 manual TH), up high (3500+rpm) i cant here it much as my engine roars some... according to my mate (in his damn gen III ute) it sounds pretty mean (no, its not louder than the ute, we were cruising and i wanted to be in front! so i dropped from 5th to 2nd (doing 70km/h, straight to 4000) and nailed past before he had a chance  )

how much $$$ to get the resonator removed and change the cat to a sports variant...
and has anyone done this with a lukey muffler so i know what it sounds like??

Yeah the lukey has no drone at all. I love it.
It's not a loud muffler. Once you hit the 3k mark it certainly barks, but it's not like it's going to set off alarms or anything lol. It'll get noticed that's for sure.

Hi ENCN
Wowh - cannot remember exactly the cost, but in 380 mark installed (welded). Not the cheapest, but.
It was done is Sydney, Australias Best Tyres
Check these websites for models.
http://www.tyres.com/
http://www.xforce.com.au/
I'n my case (3 L V6) it created lot of resonance at 1800 RPM. Got that reduced a bit by changing the center resonator to Big Mama ;) . But the final fix came via appropriate set of Headers. Flows freely without resonance-rumble and sounds nicccceeee. 8)
And also reduced the std exhaust power loss significantly.
cheers for that pic slayer, Killer, that exhaust looks wicked, I love it!

Grecy,
How about we meet up one day soon (seeing that we work near each other) and i will take you for a drive in mine so you can listen to it.
It is not that loud at all. It is really only loud when you flatten it. Driving along you can hardly hear it. It does have a nice deep note though.

1994TH,
That would be awesome man, I'd love to go for a drive in a Magna that has a Lukey.
I'm going to go get Subway at lunch today, you wanna join?

Haa, only saw this now. Absolutely no intention to claim that there would be any difference in power when comparing bolted-on versus welded. My only intention was to inform people, that they wouldn't go and shop for a "bolt-on XForce" because there is no such thing. As in, me telling the difference would have saved somebody's face, when asking "silly" question about bolted-on XForce can. As we all know, some car shop people can be quite smart-assy, and I just wanted to offer a little piece of advise.
That's all. 8)

The lukey sounds sweet,
It adds just a little volume to eth car in idle or cruising at any speed, but not enough to notice with the windows up.
Stick the foot in the accelerator though :D
It gives a deep bassy growl :D just loud enough to let everyone know you're there.
I paid $180 for the lukey installed at a small shop in Malaga.
$250 including a nice tip.
Worth every cent.
