My tapets have been making a loudish sound over the last couple of days, just wondering if this is could mean the oil pump isn't upto scratch or are the tapets just ****ed and i need a re-co ? How can i diagnose the oil pump if its possible ?
I don't want to take it to a mechanic unless its nessesary because im a uni student with no money.

In a verada it will be the v6 with a belt not a chain.
Remove the oil pressure switch, connect a oil pressure guage and test the pressure.
This will tell you if that is your problem.

How long since your last oil change and are they tapping just on startup and then getting quieter? Cos mine were getting noisey, I changed the oil and HEY PRESTO! starts up quietly now (apart from the timing chain  ).

It had a service about 800km ago, or 4 weeks or so. Perhaps they put in an oil that is too thin ? who knows, but it seems to be still doing it after its warmed up most of the time. THen again sometimes it doesn't do it. Sounds **** as tho.

over time tapets just get loose, mine are getting noisey now and i'm using 20W-60 hpr 30, i'm pulling off the rocker covers this weekend but i dont have a torque wrench so i'll just view the tapets see for wierd gaps, i doubt its your oil pump unless they are going crazy
