I just used touch up extrior spray - the colour is light subaru silver and the only advice is to prep the area first - metho wipe and then lots of primer allowing 24 hours for the primer to set properly!!

That looks awesome Gami...I love gettin ideas off people.

I wanna start doing some things to my interior...its way plain.

The first thing that I have started doing is I went out to Mistubishi and bought the verada chrome door handles.

They look way way way better than the standard dark plastic ones that came with the car.

They weren't real hard to change but they look awesome.

I'm not quite sure what my next thing will be....your help is much appreciated.

I have a 93 TR V6 Manual.

Currently doing the interior as you all know :p

Im also planning on doing a monster engine swap. Changing my sohc 12v to a dohc 24v with 200kW (will aim for at the wheels..but Im unsure of how feasable this is). I'll be getting an LSD and all that stuff too.

Going to get the Vanity Kit custom made and then it'll be time to take the car to shows!
Woohoo..

Dont expect to see it completed anytime soon though, as it's going to cost about 10k on the motor with haltech and all assorted goodies to with with the motor!!!! Not to mention the suspension and brakes and then wheels and tyres and a more professional audio install and...*faints*

And Im a full time student at the moment..lol!!

i dont think ill bother it was only 8 bucks a can on special. and im sure the suburu silver will come in handy somwhere down the track, its an awesome color. ive now decided to go a blue color of some sort. i have a ts and i dont know if the silver stands out enough..
ill be at supercheap 9am tommorow morning scoping for a new color.

Tbutcher...

The surrounds are an extra 25 bucks each or something...
I thought that would look too much so I didn't get the surrounds.

But yes the handles come with the locks.

ive done mine, doesnt chip or anything

I didnt use a clear coat, not sure of the result if you did. i didnt do mine cos the dash is not shiny, so didnt thinkt it would fit very well.

i made a note of remember where everything went.. however i am left with 2 or 3 screws left.. kinda not good eh. dont think the dash console will fall apart tho lol

oh and i was wondering if i use external primer and auto paint could i paint the grey strips going down each side of the car?! (ts wagon advance)
i want to do that today!

Joshstarr*

Killbilly
20-08-2003, 06:51 AM
You'll want a primer thats made for plastics...Ask at an auto store they'll help you out there.

Joshstarr*-TS Wagz
20-08-2003, 11:39 AM
oh of course. i have spent 130 on paints, primers and clear top coats.. altho i have decided not to do the tops.
but because its on the outside of the car i was thinking an auto primer over a plastic primer.. even tho it is still plastic
sorry about the image quality. its my laptop in the garage with a webcam.

Joshstarr*-TS Wagz
20-08-2003, 01:27 PM
hahah true! i only hope this paint job is good enough. ive done 5 primer coats and over 5 paint coats.. can only hope eh!

hey does anyone know how to 'properly' remove the bit in the tr/ts that goes right across the dash its a black plastic strip with the airvents.. does anyone know what im talking about?! ive got the right side out and part of it comes out but thats it.. anyone?!

Joshstarr*

Killbilly
20-08-2003, 04:15 PM
That is an outirght ***** to remove...It's HARD! I havent gotten it out properly yet...and it's not any fun getting to it in the first place :(

glovebox has to come out, the thing behind the glovebox comes out, then theres a lot of fiddling around while being upside down in the car, there's like little clips, have fun!

20-08-2003, 05:06 PM
Josh!!!!
how did you get your gauge surround out of the gauge holder thingy? i cant remove the back because of the reset switch in the speedo? how do i ge tit out i want it out!!!

Joshstarr*-TS Wagz
20-08-2003, 06:36 PM
ahahahha omg thats so funny. dude please dont go there please dont. i tried to work it out for over 2 hrs even rang the wreckers and mitsu to see if they new they said they didnt know for older models. ..so i got some pliers and *snip*. lol i had to had no choice.. if you pull it, it wont come out and risk breaking the spring setup for the reset.. so i cut it off and got some sandpaper and sanded it to a nice round shape :D
should see my guages tho they looks so filth at night now!
i just put 2 toggle missile switches in the glovebox for the neons. 1 for the fronts and one for the backs!! photos when im all done!

Joshstarr*

but someone must know how to take em out! there must be a better way!!

what color are your gauges now? or have u changed your lights or what???

Killbilly
20-08-2003, 10:32 PM
Getting the surround out isn't that hard, just tedious

I get a flat screwdriver and lift the bottom of it first and then pull the top of it down and pull it out like that, you cant pull it out from the top first. The bottom hits the trip meter button.

If you go from the bottom first then you will get it..

Patience, dont break it!

Joshstarr*-TS Wagz
20-08-2003, 10:52 PM
yah like i did. but i prefer my button like that now, nice smooth and metallic cyan blue! but seriously killbilly it wont work it just cant. its there and theres only one way it can come out and thats over the top of reset knob.
there is a way if you undo the 2 screw at the back that connect the tripometer to the back.. i realised that after

Joshstarr*

Killbilly
21-08-2003, 06:03 AM
Well if it cant work, how come I've done it numerous times? :p

It doesnt matter now coz you've broken it, but for everyone else..it can be done.

Put it this way, it's been put together, it has to come apart! ;)

Well I was inspired too... not quite the Subaru Silver HAHA.. but silver none the less... I was talking to the guy were I bought my paints and asked him about putting a clear gloss coat over the top to give it extra protection etc etc and he said not to do it, as if wouldnt make any difference.. Well anyway I still bought some clear gloss and tested it.. and I found that it not only toned down the SPARKLY silver from a real shinyness to a duller nice silver and gave it a nice hard coat....So I recommend putting a gloss coat on... sorry bout the pic... was taken at night and crappy economy setting was on...

Thanks Shaneo,

I hadnt finished that part yet.. A family member decided to pick it up while it was still wet and put there finger marks all through it so I had to strip it back and start over again.. Dont mind the silver on the steering wheel etc.. I must go and get that off LOL.. Does anyone know where I can get the white face for around the speedo etc??

Cheers

31-08-2003, 06:21 PM
yes and no.
hardest part was figuring out how to get to it! but once ya got that its a piece of cake. you have to take the glove box out and undo 3 wingnut bolts from the inside that holds that strip in. dont loose the the screws / washers / nuts for the glovebox either cause theres a friggin lot of them its crazy.
