have been reading about recomendations on getting water pumps changed at 100k's service.
is this a good idea?
has anybody had any problems with a water pump on 3rd gen 3.5l?

If the waterpump fails at a later date, the timing belt will have to be removed again. This is fairly labour intensive and where the majority of costs lie in getting the timing belt changed anyway.

Yeah would be wise to get it done. As dave said, if it goes later then you have to take timing belt off again. Some people never have any probs at all with them but they have been known to fail or start leaking around the 100k mark.
They arn't expensive so better to do it now for peace of mind.
