I know resinators have been brought up a few times and I apologise but can't find info directly related to my question.

I have 2 mufflers at the back and over time like all exhaust set ups have quietened so i approached my exhaust man for info.

He said if i put a performance resi on i won't notice much difference but he recmommended taking it out all together. He said since I have 2 mufflers Ithe sound is already muffled more.

What does that sound like to you guys?

I got prices to get it out and if i don't like it back in if i don't like it...

Thanks for your time

P.S. Sorry for any typos, this screen is stuffed and close to impossible to read...

As I understand it, resonators are basically there to catch and prevent resonance in the exhaust system. In more useful terms, they cut down on the drone that occurs when the exhaust note hits one of the resonant frequencies of the piping.

I don't think their primary role is to reduce noise but they probably do a bit, so while taking them out might make the exhaust louder it might also induce some droning at certain RPM.

Of course I'm prepared to be wrong :D

nahh i wouldnt do it man, ages ago i had a hole in my resonator so the cheapest option was to take it out and just put pipe there, coz i had to take it over the pits. anyway a while later i got my 2.5" exhaust with lukey muff done, and it sounds good but as it gets into the higher revs it sounds very tinny and sounds too much like a jap car.

im going in this week to have a resonator put back on, i want deep noise not ****ty tinny noise

Thanks guys, it is sort of what I figured...

Just, I like the note of my exhaust but over time (like all after market muffler) it quietens down and i was looking for a way to increase the volume some...
