They fit, however I can't help with the knock sensor problem. The other problem is it is illegal, in Victoria to fit a motor to a car that is older than the car.

A TP engine should bolt into a TR but there are a few differences
all TP and TR carby were the same compression,
TR EFI engine had higher compression
TR EFI is sequential, TP isn't
TR have shorter valve stems, roller rockers and cam to suit
TR have different engine mount brackets

If you do fit the TP engine then change over the top end to keep the proper roller rocker head and injection, also replace all the welch plugs and rear main while you still have the block out,
If vic roads will accept an earlier series engine number in a TR and u don't care if it's a low compression slug then go for the TP engine.
Good 2nd hand TR/TS EFI 4cyls are worth about $500 from the wreckers with 3-6 mths warranty.

i have heard that the valve stem length is slightly different n roller and non roller rocker heads, ring an engine machine shop to confirm this.
