my brother just bought a 2000 lancer tonight and we were just messin around with it. We found that the cd player recieves AM clearly but no FM whatsoever. It is a clarion head unit that apparently comes stock and the rest of the sound system is stock aswell. Anyone got any idea on what the problem is??

is it the stock headunit? Or an import.
If its an import the FM bands may be out by a step.

Sounds odd though. Aerial problem maybe?

Assuming the antenna is plugged in properly i would say the stereo is U/S. Having said that i have a stock one lying around from our 2000 Lancer also. But it would be in best interests to install a decent stereo in their anyway as the stock Clarions are crap. The job can be done in about 30mins max.

yeh its not an import, i thought it was strange too. yeh i will make him save some money and get something descent

That is a very common problem with the lancer headdeck. Not worth getting fixed - just get a new unit - even a cheapie
