Im wondering about upgrading my cam in the next month or 2 and i was wondering if anyone else has upgraded to a stage 1 or 2 cam on a first gen, and what realistic gains i can expect with the mods i have.
Extractors, ultraflo muffler, and a weber carbi for more juice.
im thinking stage 2 cam

a mild cam like i have is good to improve things alittle bit right across the rev range. it will want to pull to 6000rpm everytime compared to the stock cam... wen i put this mild cam in, i LOVED it. thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
BUT... its not enough to give u the spine snapping power u want...
stage 2 is the go for you. for sure. if i had a spare cam, i would get it reground to stage 2 for sure... will give u a very noticeable lumpy idle. it wont want to launch lol (shredding tyres) and it will pull right up to 6500rpm no problems. which is obviously fine for our magnas since it redlines at 6000. umm, thats as much as i know about a stage 2 cam. with the extra power, comes worse fuel economy obviously. a more aggresive cam letting in more of the air/fuel mixture giving more power = bad for economy. but that is the price u have to pay to get the power. ill end up with a stage 2 cam too i believe... unless this full EFI magna with power everything finds its way into my garage for $400 :D

why aren't ppl interested in a subby style nitro go? zex nitrous kits (i know its not what subby has) are reasonalby priced, i saw a second hand 50 shot one for $500 full kit, i mean the dollar value is pretty good, compared to say extractors and cam. I'm done with spending on my first gen, but i just think this over say turbs etc its pretty good value. Sure its not exactly legal, but i mean neither is speeding or excessive zorsts and so forth..plus magnas are sleepers

nitro also puts a lot of stress on your engine and will ruin your seals. better just to do standard mods i reckon. but the best bang for your buck im my opinion is whacking on s upercharger or turbo. sure it costs a bit, but the improvements are huge.

especially with the astrons... they love the forced induction

would a 50 shot put that much stress? oh and yes astrons love forced indcution, they also love having money poured into them :bowrofl:

quality of the product and also, many many instances of poor customer service. i had a mate here in townsville order up an enlarged throttle body and he had lots of problems getting it sent/paid for. dunno if it's because RPW is busy or just lazy...

RPW don't produce their own cams. I think you'll find they source their cams from one of the Companies you mention above. And l'm not talking about Crow.
