Hi all, regarding the 2.6 ltr astron engines is there any way to improve the fuel economy. The gas guzzling 2.6 resides in my triton ute (I know it's not a Magna, but i've got one of those as well) it's got extractors and a 2.5 inch exhaust with a mercury hi-flow all of which made no difference at all to the fuel economy. It was crappy before and it's crappy now. Any ideas.

Yeah I've tried the conservative driving approach, however flog it or finesse it, the result was the same, around 350Km's/60lts.

WOAH thats bad i get around 11l per 100km and ur getting 17l
i noticed after i had my injecters cleaned it improved
also when was it last serviced?

Ahhh yes, injectors. What a novelty that would be, regretably my ute is equipped with a dual throat resin bodied carb. I've had it serviced but unless the man with the spanner has a particular knowledge of that model carb it will just be a by the book carby tune.

i used to have a 2.6 2wd triton it would do 460km a tank highway driving. 360 sounds like there is something wrong or you spend a lot of time it stop start traffic.

Even 460K's out of a tank is not particularly outstanding, especially for highway running
