Hi All,
I was washing my car today at the carwash and I have damaged what looks like the top-coat of the paint on the rear bumper. A thin clear layer ripped off after I put the hose on what I thought was an insect. I'm thinking that it possibly was a small scratch that I have made much worse now.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could repair it?
I have attached a pic for those who are interested in what it looks like.
Many thanks in advance.

Can't see the pic m8, but if it has only taken the clear coat it should be an easy fix. The whole bar might have to be clear-coated though

High-pressure washes are a bad idea. Now you know why. :)

Dude, sorry to hear the drama.
I own a carwash probably just like the one you visited, and I've never seen that type of mark on a car. It looks like some chemical etc has run out of the boot seal at the corner and attacked the paint!
I've never seen clearcote fail like that on a car esp a 3rd gen Magna. I own a dark blue TF similar to that and I can barely peel the paint from the stone chips along the front bumper and my guns pump 1250psi!!!
Is there damage to the painted surfaces inside the boot lid and sills? It looks like there's some around the taillight too from the pic.

this is the reason why i dont use high pressue on my car, a properly maintained car shouldnt need it a garden hose is all u need, i spray down my car first, shampoo, then 'run' or 'pool' the water on my car, that is i remove the hose head so its just running water and go over the car so it creates like a pool of water which gets underneath the dirt and soap and moves it all
looks like clear caot failure but god knows how to fix it

nah it looks like the clear coat has gone... id sand away the region and blow it with a can if you dont have access to spray gun, rub back and gloss it
or u can respray the whole bumper
or u can take it to a pro
