I assume everyone else has the nasty rearview mirror rattle like me! :(
I consider my rear view mirror an instrument.. it definately makes its own unique sounds and ruins the SQ within the cabin
Has anyone attempted too fix it yet?
Im speculating that half of the rattle is the internals within the mirror (for that up/down flip functionality) and the other half is the actual joint on the arm
Im pondering attacking the internals and the joint with some silicon!
Thoughts/Comments?
not rattle from me
it just falls off
3 times now dammit

Makes the lights at night look pretty from all the vibrations, but no rattles.

Mine doesnt exatly rattle, it vibrates and buzzes... I find tho that even if u hold the base against the windscreen while driving it stops vibrating.. so Im not sure if it is the mechanisms or not.. Id love some suggestions though if you come up with anything..

yea mine does the same thing! im thinking about putting a flat bit of foam or something like a mouse pad peice between the mirror and the roof of the car. Might absorb most or some of the vibration?
Thats also a good thing to use to stop ur number plates from rattling

Ok, u guys have the mirror attached to the windscreen.. its on the roof in 2nd gens.. so my idea is useless to u! :doubt:
sorry
wow, you unluck people lol mine just shakes like hell. doesn't rattle, doesn't buzz or anything.
silicone is your friend. i assume our mirrors slide into a metal plate sorta thing? forgot. but yeah, tighten teh screw, and put some silicon around it lol

Actually your suggestion will work in 3rd gens too. I currently have the ultimate in low-tech solutions to the buzzing mirror problem - A scrunched up ball of paper wedged between the top of the mirror and the roof. Silent as a mouse lol
One day I will do it properly..

yeah my rear mirror in me 2nd gen keeps falling down when the subbies are cranked. Im usiing a bit of blue tack atm, but thats not enough. u need to wedge something else into it.

ive siliconned mine (only the ball joint near the window) and had to do it 3 times as i didnt let it dry out properly the 1st 2 times and it didnt really like chem bros galvanise too much...
jus put some silicon on ya finger and work it around and into the joint, give it a couple of layers too as the bass can cause some huge vibrations through the windscreen and allow it to dry good for at least a couple of days!!!
Or better still, my bro tells me a product called sillaflex?? drys like cement and bonds to anything. but pricey i believe

i had the same problem, until Jase (TZABOY) was in my car, all he did was pull it off, and put it back on! just seemed like it wasnt sitting clicking in all the way, like it had slipped out alittle, thats why it caused vibration.

Grab the mirror arm, pull toward dash. Mirror falls off and hand bangs on dash followed by "mofo!!!" lol
Yeah, just slide it down the glass Will
