Hey all,
starting to put my old auto carby tn back together as a EFI MANUAL TN
will be puttin a a 2 " exhuast (headers back)
CAI and a pod
possibly a cam (possibly mild yet probley hot)
now im just wondering what is that goin to do to my stock ecu?
ive seen threads on cams saying u need a piggy back or a new ecu, yet then others in the same thread debates it
so does anyone have a efi first gen with a cam a pod and a exhuast still using the stock ecu fine?
Sorry, but the cam's the only thing I can't say. The ECI cars run adequatly with the other mods though.
I'm putting my old TP EFI auto back together as a "First Gen" EFI Manual...

i reckon run 2 1/4" exhaust from the cat back. its louder when ur accelerating there is a nice sporty tone, but its not excessive. ill make a video for u to hear, ive got lukey headers too, but its the size of the exhaust and the muffler that make most the noise.

well i supose the engine, loom, ecu, box, clutch, is all tp gear, the chassis of my car is a tn, the seats are tp, and the console is a tp , the strips down the side are tm though
anyways back on topic, does anyone know if the cam upgrades run without needed a ecu upgrade
and thanks tm terror, although i think 2" will be sufficiant for the engines needs, im not upgrading the exhuast for the sound that much, more for the enhancments,

you will have problems with a pod too just get a replacement K&N....was the best money i ever spend
as for the cam u MIGHT get away with a mild cam but anything other there that and ull need a piggyback

Err. Only my chassis is the original TP. And even that's had a huge chunk replaced. None of the front panels are as MMAL had them.
Also, watch out with the difference between TN and TP consoles and dashes. They're interchangable, but not intermixable.

yeah already noticed that when i tried to get away with just the center console, my dash was a tp dash before i took it off the road, so the dash isnt goin to be a problem
Also why would a pod make problems for the ecu, as in is there a way to fix that? like is it just the MAF or somethign bigger than that

do a search on the forums about pods the gen1s use the same sensers as the newer models and pods swurl the air upsetting the maf causing the car the run rich, stall, crap and so on

anything other than a mild cam u will wanna look at stiffer valve springs aswell.
and yes... 2" exhaust from the cat back is enough for an N/A magna which isn't putting out that much power.

i looked into a mild cam for efi and stock ECU and the closest awnser i got was a maybe, along with you will need bigger injectors, so u will need to be able to adjust the pusle of the injector to get the most out of the cam, another problem is astron 2 heads flow well on the exhaust side not the intake so leaning out is a problem thats why u need bigger injectors and a different ecu, so instead of the cam i went extractors 2.25' cat back and lukey turbo muffler along with K&N filter noticable difference.

im doin tr efi headers then cut after the flex and 2" back from that early
as for injectors, for a hot cam, anyone have any idea how big they would need to be

TR EFI manifold? 'headers' are universal for the 2.6L headers being aka extractors in my opinion, unless the car is turbo.
sounds good tho. when do u expect to be done.

are the stiffer springs important? i'm thinkin about the cam... but i'll replace the springs another time - when the head has to come off...

" Stiffer valve springs reduce the chance of "valve float," which occurs at high rpm. That's when an engine makes a "sputtering" sound and/or sprays fuel out the carburetor at high speed."
"If an engine is going to turn above 4,000 rpm, stiffer valve springs will need to be installed along with heavy-duty retainers."
so who cant get past 4000rpm again? i bet its ur friend with the cam notorius
u dont need to touch anything else wen installing a mild cam. anything more, youll want stiffer valve springs

my mates car revs past 7 with his cam, specs of the cam are not avalible from me, yet are higher than mild spec, it changes gears at 4 grand becasue it was an auto, yet i can go past 4 grand fine :)

why specs not to know? the idea of the forum is to share ideas, kind of silly hiding, else I wouldnt expect help from someone in return....cos that would be 'secret'
tm posted his specs and all info, i posted some info from my enquiries, is that not the purpose of the forums to help each other out? competition aint between the magnas, its against th eother cars!!

thats a fair dinkum cam that can rev that hard..... I can only go to 7500 and have 2 turbo cams.... Does it make more power after 5500rpm????
