View Full Version : I think my stereo is fried, need advice
Recentley my speakers started making a really loud popping sound, it sounded like it was coming from the front left 3x3, anyways i thought id just let it go and it would eventually just blow and i could replace it. Then the other day i noticed steam coming out of my deck and i turned it off immediately. It still worked but i left it off but now it doesn't do anything. Considering steam came from the deck i think some how water must have got in the deck or something and started the popping then it just fried. Anyways if it is a water issue where should i go to get this problem fixed. I can't drive with out my music. Please any help would be greatley appreciated. If anyone can reccomend a good place to get this fixed i would appreciate it. Thanks

Got steam? :bowrofl:
Sorry. Unless you have a leak somewhere around your windscreen, the only other place water could come from is the heater/fan unit. It's not unheard of to split a hose or for one to pop off.
Disconnect your battery and get the head unit out first of all. Then check for signs of water. If present, start looking for where the water came from.
There does seem to be a fair bit of an opening in the seal on the windscreen. But that would have been there for some time now. So why would it happen now. To be honest i need someone who knows what there doing to have a look at it cause i am in over my head at this stage and i am lazy. So if you know of place where i could go to get it checked thats reliable that would help alot.

I'd go to a decent windscreen place to get the leak looked at.
Then I'd go to a reputable car audio place to get the rest of it sorted.
Where are you at?
Yeah good point probably should have mentioned that before. I am in perth. Those carzy stormes have been flooding my car.
