I'm looking at replacing the stock front speakers in my TF. Been to a few car audio places today. The best (sounding) value one was at Strathfields. They can fit a Pioneer TSC1602 front speakers which include tweeters for $260, or I can add $100 for sound deadenins in the front 2 doors. $360 total.
..Or Tonkins can do the slightly more powerful Alpine SPS-171A speakers (with tweeks) fitted with that paste on the doors to stop sound escaping for $460.

I wouldn't let strathfield touch my trims. Dodgy Brothers city on the installs....
Buy from them by all means, just dont let the mofos touch your car.
Seriously, do it yourself... takes like 45mins for each door.

Check their definition of sound deadening, would be interested to know how much they do.
I assume it's only the inside layer. Still not a bad price.
As for splits best bet is to go with what sounds good... Try to shut ur eyes and play a cd you know very well.
Bring it to the shop. And try as many places as possible.
Good luck
