Just a little back ground first i have an exhaust which is 2.5' from the cat back them splits to a dual system which is 2' then into two super cat mufflers.

i have had the exhaust for a few months now and have noticed a weird noice it almost sounds like there is a hole some where. spoke to my uncle who is a mechanic and he said it could be a blocked cat. He said this quite common.

Now my question is. is it worth getting a free flow cat put on or is the stock cat better.

do you guys know of the prices between a stock cat and a free flow cat and which brand cat is a lot better.

is the a major improvement on the performance with this change. i was told that there is not much difference between the free flow and stock cat and the stock cat could possibly be better than the free flow cat.

Hello Mate

When I Installed extractors (Packemaker) on my Verada 3.5LT I was told that the 3RD Gen Magan's and Verada's factory cats are good size for stock car. Don't get me wrong high flow cats will work a lot better if you have the full set up EI: extractors Cat back system.

Price they all are differrent I was quoted Around $350 to $400 for a high flow

Stock cat is around $800...

I checked because my exhaust was dodgy and if the cat was the fault I was change to a high flow cat. Turned out it was an oxy sensor...

thanks for the offer but im in VIC.

i have been calling around a few places and they both quoted me $250 for a supercat cat installed. so i think i will get it as my car now sounds like a truck.

does putting a free flow cat increase the sound of the muffler

I keep hearing the same thing... I was quoted $240 by Midas but was advised not to bother unless you are kicking out some high pony power.
As for sound... really not sure... may be possible.
