Hello Benny,
My best bet is a number of options:
*Extrators (Packemaker or Luckey) High flow cat and a nice 2.5" system from the cat.
*K&N pod with cold air induction piping.
* Oversized Throttle body.
*Pigi back computers will help gain the most power out of all you'r mods.
These are what most magna onwers do then, go on to more higher projects EI: Cam upgrades Superchargers, Turbocharges.
Also: There is a lot of information on this site about mods to Magna's just click on the search key.
Cheers Nick!!

2.5" from the cat back. You'll want two resonators; 1 x perforated, 1 x fluted. Hi-flow muffler, Lukey, Redback, Magnaflow, Berkley PEX etc are all used and luved.
Cold Air Intake - colder air is denser, bigger bang.
Flowed or Oversize Throttle Body - faster gear changes from a more responsive throttle
Hi-flow airfilter, replacement K&N panel or K&N Pod for the Magna's Karmen Vortex meter
Pod Filter Box - connects to the CAI to draw cool air into the POD, helps with avoiding defect notices etc
Simple stuff to plug away at. Start with the exhaust first. Free up the engine load and get some free torque and fuel economy.
Plenty of recent posts about these too.
cheers for hte info boys any prices on these types of mods im looking at sumthing good for no more then $500

You should be able to get a custom cat-back mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust with straight through muffler and a tip of your choice and still have a bit of change out of $500, depending on who does your exhaust.

The piping in this pic is wrong for a 3rd gen. The pipe should weave to the passenger side around the fuel tank before returning to the drivers side and bolting up above the rear irs arm.

you dont need a full catback as the stadard cat back system on the magnas are already 2.5" and the centre muffler is already straight through, so there will be no performance gain in chainging this. The only thing you should be looking at is a good rear muffler. Redback is good value here, i got my straight through rear muffler for $150, add a K&N panel filter to that with a peice of tubing running from the airbox to some cold air, and some extractors if you can afford it should get your power up around the 170kw mark at the moment i think. Larger throttle body would also be good value.

both the resonators are 2.25in not 2.5, the cat is 2.5 though. parts of the piping also shrink down slightly in places and your system is only as good as the most restrictive section...... there's no point in replacing cat back when other sections are restrictive, if you don't wanna do it all just replace the rear muffler to a straight through unit like you said :)

i dunno how you guys are all getting redback/lukey straight thru mufflers fitted for under $200
best price i've got is $240 for a lukey fitted or around $380 for a 2.5" catback with lukey muffler from genie exhausts (but thats with dyno runs incl)
