Can anyone help me with this Automatic problem.
When driving this car, the engine revs for several seconds between gear changes
I can get it to change gear if I lift my foot off the acelerator pedal, otherwise the engine revs its heart out. If doing 100k to overtake in the 110 klm zone, the engine reves big time, but the car wont excelerate until I lift my foot off the pedal.
The ECU test code (access is up under the glove box) says there is a low voltage problem, but, testing the voltage supply to A16 is 11.58v engine stopped, running it is 13.19v on pin A16 so is there another item I may have missed?
If I put a hot iron on every joint on the PCB, will it fix it?
I'm clutching at straws here, but I carn't see why I should shell out $350 odd $ for another ECU when there are only about $50 worth of bits at the most in it, and it might not be the answer  .
Has anyone else had this problem?
I sure could use some help with this

Welcome to the forum's
have you tryed disconnecting the battery, my TP wagon does the same thing when changing up to 3rd, but if i disconnect the battery it fix's it for a few days, also another time in my TM i went for a drive *cough*(rally) up the bush, after a wile i pulled over and had a rest, after my rest i started the car drove 100m down the road and lost all gears exsept reverse, so i ended up driving all the way home in reverse, got home checked the oil in the auto, the oil was almost black! but before i changed the oil i disconnected the battery and i got all gears back but only for 100m so i changed the oil and it was fine again,
so maybe try changing your oil, thease auto's behave very wierd sometimes, oh and try unplug and plugin every wire going to the auto a few time's, there might be a corroded pin in one of your plugs giving you your low voltage

Yes change your OIL, the automatic transmision in these cars is very tempremental to oil. Needs good quality oil or the mitsubishi stuff. Besides, changing the oil is a good habbit ne ways. I hope this helps, it does sound just like an oil problem or bands slipping, somthing you or your mechanic can fix.

Thanks guys, I only got around to checking my mail and found your replies, been inside the car reassembling and fixing the thin bakalite center console with glue and metal shims all day long.
I just had the motor o-hauled, cost me 4 grand, for that they also threw in a couple of broken vacuum hoses, (which I had to rearrange and fix) I found this trying to figure out why there was no vaccuum at the distributar, because the motor was running rough.
And when I had the head retourqued down, the mechanic pulled the copper pipe off the aircleaner while removing the whole assembly to do the head.
So spent a couple of hours fixing that by re flanging it. He also stripped the thread in the middle on the rocker cover where the 2nd bolt for the aircleaner fastens, oh yes, he also lost the small spring which stops the wire basket rattling directly over the ventury of the carby.
Had to strighten out the bonnet prop, it came back bent out of shape and I broke the rubber gromet trying to get it stright, Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Now Imm going around the twist :bowrofl:
Sorry about the winge, I feel better now, but I have lost all my trust in mechanics.
Just took the positave clamp off the battery terminal post, Ill give it a couple of hours before I reconnect it. Removed the 2 white plugs on the autoaxle a couple of times, hopefully this will fix it, it wont hurt anyway. :)
Carnt change the oil as I live about halfway between Dalby and Chinchilla, it will just have to wait until next pension week. But thanks guys for your help, its appreciated, I keep you posted here.
