I had a phone call from a friend who just got a JVC Deck installed by a " Professional Installer" and said to me his CD's were coming out too hot to handle.. So I told him to come around and I will take a look..
I quickly found out that he had No fader functions and immediately ripped out his deck and saw what they had done..
They had wired All the Speaker Outputs to the one Channel..
His 6inch fronts and rear 6x9's were all connected to the one channel, the left rear..I am suprised the Deck didn't explode..

So after 10 mins of un doing there dirty work.. I took him down and showed the Choosen installer what the hell had happened.. All I got told was " We had spilt coffee on the instructions and didn't know how to do it" after 10 mins of me badgering them on how idiotic they were they gave my friend a refund of the Installation of his deck.

I am just waiting to see if his speakers short out as I suspect the terminals are probably going to earth out..

Needless to say My friend will now get me to do the install work as he has found it much cheaper...

I am not going to name the installer as I hate giving other companies bad press, but come on...

Damn that's a shocker... One of the worst I've heard... hell as if you need instructions to figure out the wiring, takes 30 seconds...

Well at least you got a refund.

Hmmm Strathy? Jb? Hi-fi supamarket? Franklins No Frills?

then you could have sued them for charging for a crap install! and attempted arson cause the car could have caught alight! lol

Thats pretty damn dodge though. I mean how hard is it? You do one install and the rest are pretty much all the same!
I had to fix a mates instal again by a "pro installer'. They used screw connectors... like a little bit of tube with a vertical screw at each end where the wires go in. Well instead of stripping the wires and tinning them, then screwing down on them, they just shoved the insulated wire in and screwed down hard, cutting the insulation and makeing very minimal contact with the copper. So his speakers sounded like static! .... and they charged him $80!!! flamin morons!

That is pretty bad. "Professional" .. eh .. why did they need instructions on not connecting all speakers to one terminal.

I may do an ICE upgrade, so will keep this horror story in mind.

Thats why I take my car to FHRX studios :bowrofl: So chance of anything not working when you go their, and his wiring looms look so so sexy. :D

Well if you mention the location i.e. Parramatta or something then im sure we can guess for ourselves and avoid that stupid place. :gtfo:

JBhifi at Erina did mine, left the headunit half a cm protruding, and left the Not functioning 4 stacker drive right underneath the headunit instead of putting a plastic insert where you can keep your phone + wallet..
They didnt secure the sub, gave me a 40 cm earth cable dangeling from the parcel tray (which kept shorting out when the sub moved) and kept my $80 cabeling spares, they needed half the kit of it to do my install and kept the rest.

Im going to get it redone elsewhere, I have meanwhile velcro'd the sub into place and it moves not one millimeter.

Its tonnes easy in a Magna just to do it yourself..
I mean the forum on here is extremely helpful and most can do it straight without needing anything but instructions..

If you can do a Car Audio setup in a Mondeo, you can do nearly everything...

The hardest car I have ever worked on

Ahhh ha.. so your the guy my bro keeps seeing. Black VR-X with P's :bowrofl: There is another guy on here with a white stock sports with an AMC sticker too i see.

May I ask what kind of headunit it is? Strathfield at Gosford is worse. Im guessing that your amp is mounted to the box in the rear? You can fix it yourself, I put a mates system in the other day and it is so so easy. How pro's stuff up is just crazy, it is easy to check your work.

I understand that you're not going to reveal this places names no matter what everyone pretty much says, but lets just hope that a few months from now someone else doesn't come on here complaining about their head unit blowing up after "XXX" car audio installed it. You'd feel great about that...

phhhhwar, thats nasty.

sif be dumb enough to wire all the speakers together, lol any 'pro' would think...hmm, something's different lol

bleh, all too common dodgey 'pro' jobs. Maybe they're always wanting new juniors and your car just happens to be their first one. Or the junior trainees never get better

Hahaha, yeah that's me!
My headunit is a Pioneer DEH-P550MP http://img.shopping.com/cctool/PrdImg/images/pr/177X150/00/01/3c/1a/69/20716137.JPG

I have the amp mounted on the inside boot, its been secured also. I used to have it mounted on the sub but it was ****. For now the sub and amp is secure, it just looks a little untidy. You can see the pics in the link in my profile. If someone wanted to take the sub out, they'd have to take the whole boot out, makes it alot harder for thiefs.

Side story: My cousin's car had gotten stolen once, it took us less than one day to find it, ringing around and asking people 'in the know'.. some junkie's in wyong.. Needless to say we rocked up with several car loads and made them pay for a towtruck. Escaping the beating of their life, because their mother was having a panic attack.
